Tire replacement time

Hey guys,

Im sure this has been asked before but after 33k miles Im looking for a good set of replacement tires for my 2010 2ss/rs. I looked at the Pirelli P zeros again but $2100 was a bit much. My car is a daily driver that gets stored in the winter. I don't go to the track but I do some spirited driving occasionally. I probably dont need tires rated to 186+ again right? What have you guys put on?

Thanks,
Mike

I am in the same boat right now. I have decided to go with the General G-max tires for the mileage. I cant see spending the money on p-zeros and have to replace them every 10-15k miles.

Nitto Motivo on my DD, all season, look good, ride as good or better than the P-zeros, I have not noticed any loss of traction, but then I do not race, just some spirited driving.

Last time I looked they were much cheaper than $2100 for a full set, looked like $1200 to me.

I have Continental DWS on my car and they handle well with a comfortable ride.

Yeah you might be looking at the run flats...Stock Pirelli's are like $250-$300 a tire.

Went to discount tire and got the Nitto Invo's. it was a good trip so I got to try them out on the Hwy pretty good. The tires look good and ride good, with the windows down I did not get any more road noise than with the pirelli's. They are a little squirmmy, but hold the road good. I would recommend these, but this is just the first day.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I'll take a look and make sure I wasn't checking out the run flats.

Pirellis are 1200. Nitto invo for the v8 are garbage.. I went with Vredestein Ultrac Sassantas and they were priced below the rest bc on sale and handle better than all. No road noise etc etc. For your application you should go with some that are rated higher for milage and whichever is on sale.

Yeah, Pirelli's are around 950-1000 at Discount tire for stock 20" I hear Invo's are good tires and not trash by the way. great on the street, wear better and quiet. On the auto x they handle great, maybe not good for drags though. Thing is if you want stock size tires they do not have a 245/45-20 for the front that is load rated for the Camaro, have to go 275 minimum

the load rating on our car is skewed because gm put truck tires and wheels on a camaro. Shops wont put tires below the factory tires load rating regardless of the cars actuall needs and safety requirement. I had to convince my tire guy to just mount the tire on my wheel for my track set and mounted the wheels and tires when i got home.

got side tracked...the load rating of stock tires is way overkill and dropping it a bit isnt unsafe just some shops(the ones with standards and rules) wont put them on your car.
