Found another used SS and need some advice...

Hey guys, as some of you might remember from last week, I went and test drove a used 2SS/RS but didn't get it because it was ratted out and way too expensive. We ran some numbers on a new 1SS/RS, but I couldn't get that where I wanted it with the payments since I was so upside down on my 10 month old 1LT/RS.

Well, that brings us to the next car I found. I found a 2010 2SS/RS in Crystal Red Tintcoat at a lot where my buddy is the finance manager. I could have got a smoking deal on it, but the tires were bald and I have to be honest here, I just don't dig the color. If I'm going to ditch my beloved 1LT/RS, it has to be something that's either just right, or damn near that. So I passed.

So today, searching online, I found a 2010 2SS/RS [at least I'm PRETTY sure it's a 2SS, I can't tell for sure if the seats in the pictures are leather] in Victory Red, my preferred color, with only 8,500 miles on it for $27,983. So I emailed the lot about it and have been talking to a sales guy all day. I eventually talked him into throwing some numbers my way, just to see if it was worth our time for me to come in, and he offered me $22,500 for my 2012 1LT/RS and said the car was firm at $27,983 which he said was already at a $600 loss for them. That would put my payments at about $590/month [keep in mind, I'm super upside down in my current Camaro].

$590/month is in my budget, so if that's what I walk out with, I could do it. But what do you guys think? From what I can tell, it's not a bad price on the SS, and the trade-in seems relatively fair, I suppose. I noticed two things, though. First, the spoiler is aftermarket. I don't love it, but I could always replace it. And secondly, where are the Brembos? Did the 2010's not come stock with Brembos? Maybe I just can't see them in the photos...

Here's a link to the car.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

From the photos I can tell it has the RS package, is a 2SS, GM dovetail spoiler, and rear cargo net.

All SS camaros come with Brembos

I definitely thought that they all came with Brembos from day one, but I don't see them in the pics. Probably just a bad angle. Also, I hate that there's no photos of the engine, but I can check that out when I go to look at it this week.

Being upside down on a car loan stinks and I have been there. Eventually you just have to find one you like for the long haul and pay the sucker off, otherwise you will never dig out of the hole. Enough of the lectures. Cant go wrong with an SS my friend.

You cant see the Brembos because they are charcoal/black in color and dont stand out in those pics. Only the 1LE and ZL1 have painted calipers, maybe you were expecting that

First rule of dealer club: No way they are going to give you $22,500 for your 1LT AND take a loss on the new used car. Not unless they plan to rape you on the financing end and keep some points for themselves. Keep working them down on price and be iffy on that interior color. It isn't a very popular color combo. It's worth less to the general public simply due to that. Use it to your advantage.

Only about 10% of all 5th gens ever built thus far came with grey leather or cloth.

Thanks for the opinions, everybody. I did know the Brembos were gray in color, but for some reason remembered them being way easier to see because of the lettering. Just a bad angle on that shot, I guess.

In answer to Fiveg56's question, I'm about $28K in the hole on my V6, plus like $1,700 or something like that on the 7-year extended warranty. But I get that back, of course. So after it's all said and done, it would be like I'm paying new price for the V8 to begin with.

So what do you guys think of the actual deal as a whole? Let's say they don't come down on the price any. Would it be a good deal or just a so-so deal that I should pass on? I'm really super torn. I really want a VR SS/RS, and this one seems to be in great shape, but I don't want to go into super debt... And I know the SS is more fun, but I am definitely in love with my LT.

Man, this sucks...

$590 a month for how long is the huge question. that's $7000 a year to drive a 4 year old car, no thanks.

Bad financial decision you are trying to get into.

gm blade spoiler

actually the spoiler is a factory gm spoiler it is called a blade type or a wing spoiler it is a gm option my car came with it and it was $630 dollar option. nothing wrong with the standard ss spoiler but this one in my opinion looks way better the standard one is to small to me. just my opinion. very nice car I hope you can get it
