12K Over Sticker!

Went Camaro looking on Sunday. Found a black 2SS at a dealer in Seaford, DE. Sticker price is about 37K, but the dealer added 12K to that.

Spoke to a salesman there this morning who said yes, that's what they're asking for it, 12K over the sticker. He said in the bigger cities dealers are asking 15-20K over sticker. I told him he might get 12K over, but not from me.

Unbelievable.

Wow. 12k is the highest I've heard of so far. 15-20k over? Now that's just a lie.

What worries me is they're going to confuse the uneducated. We've all seen the thread about the dumbest things people have said about the new Camaro. "it's a limited edition for 50k". It's probably the damn dealers that are doing it. All these dealers are who Chevrolet should be closing down. You're going to have people see the car advertised for 23k, go in there, see it marked way up, and they're going to leave a Chevrolet dealer, never to return.

the one near me is asking 5k over so msrp is 50k. talked to the guy and he's like yea we've been offered 1300 over sticker by dealers up north. laughed and said i would have taken it if I were you. that camaro has been sitting on their lot for 3 weeks now. hate monopoly dealers. think it's not above someone to drive out of the area to get a car they want.

Not really - Pohanka Chevrolet here in Chantilly, VA is selling a LS for 44k. That's double the price!

IMO, that's been a problem with some dealers for years, not just GM. They attempt to convince potential buyers that they are "All That" and the buyer is just stupid. What ends up happening is ppl go buy a Honda, or Toyota with the perception all dealers are the same and trust goes out the window. Unfortunately, the majority of buyers are just not that experienced. American auto manufacturers need to get control of this crap once and for all, or they are going to continue to pay the price. The problem is with the closing of so many dealers, fair compitition to drive down costs is going to take a huge hit.

Are you sure? I don't see an LS on their web site. I see a 1LT, a 2LT, and three 2SS's.
