Our Car is Lost! You ain't going to believe this.

We were expecting our car to be delivered today and had finished paperwork with dealer last Saturday even turning over the trade. Today I get a message from manager that he had contacted GM to get the rail number since car had not arrived. Instead, and I quote, "The information I recieved was unfortunately not what I was expecting. I was informed that it appears your car was misrouted to another dealer." I'm thinking, OK so its not in Omaha but ended up on a truck to Podunck, Missouri from the KC rail distribution center, just arrange for us to pick it up. NO, the dealer it got routed to is in California. Our guy called CA dealer and car has not arrived there and they would "not accept it if the truck tries to drop it off". So what will happen?????? Back on the truck only to get stuck in never never land?

Inventory guy in Omaha says he and owner immediately informed the General Motors Zone Manager of the situation to "reactivate the situation". What does that mean?

Any help... ideas...

Currently we are waiting for a call back from our men in Omaha.

(Oh, and to the conspiracy theorists, our dealer did not sell our car, GM lost it.)

lmeagle & rmpackers

UPDATE 7/2: Well this morning the inventory manager called back and GM says I have no idea where the misrouted information came from but the car is still in IL waiting to hook to another train. Figure this out. But at least we now have information it is on the correct route to NE. Thanks to all for comments and great jokes. WE were able to laugh a lot.

UPDATE 7/14: Good news. After 3 weeks in transit, probably sitting in Chicago but maybe riding to CA and back, the Camaro arrived at the Dealership in Omaha. We will never forget the waiting and the stress of thinking the car had gone west without us. (back in October when we ordered we had planned to drive it to CA in early May) Anyway she is home and all is well. Thanks for ideas and reasurance that GM would get it worked out.

A truck driver is doing some burnouts somewhere after chugging a case of beer and cranking up some freebird with his buddies in your car.

Wholly crap batman, that's the first time I've seen a post on this problem.

Luggage is one thing, but a Camaro? How the heck do you misroute a Camaro??

No but this is why you don't do the " paperwork with dealer last Saturday even turning over the trade".
As to the General Motors Zone Manager He will get the car rerouted on the rail car back to
KC rail distribution center, this is maybe 1-2 weeks depending on where the Camaro is.

Interesting story. A truck hauler would not drop it to another dealer who's name isn't on the decal......in fact, I have a very hard time believing that it would even come off the train if in fact it did happen.

I figure this is the guy the will get to drive it from CA to NE. Crushed cans, french fries and new car smell replaced with a totally new smell.

yea, I know better but all was looking good. Other car produced week before ours was on the floor waiting for pickup, our trade was dispensible and prepped for best deal possible, which we got.

THanks for thoughts on how it returns to O.

Thanks for the reply, Scotty. Always good to get your opinion. Are you saying it maybe did not happen???? What then a paper/computer glitch in the information provided to inventory guy?

Someone should make a movie about a Pre Order Camaro and the adventure it does thru before the buyer get's it. A Romantic Comedy.

I am sure they will find out where the car is. Sorry to make a joke about your situation.
