Question for V6 owners
For all you V6 owners please help me here. I have a 2013 V6 RS with all the features available automatic. Every time I have went to fill it up I get asked by some random guy "hey why the he'll aren't you putting premium gas in you're car?", "Why the he'll would you buy a V6?" and "Nice car how does it handle? Oh never mind its an auto." It is starting to get on my nerves what does it matter that I bought an automatic and V6? I got an automatic so my wife could drive my car and didn't buy a SS because I purchased a new Cruz LTZ fully loaded just a year ago. Anyone else get the wtf auto and V6 treatment and how do you handle it?

I got the "yeah, just a 6" yesterday in fact - while laying out 2 grand for wheels & tires! I don't care! I have a freekin camaro and he has an s-10 POS.
Also, I don't buy premium - I get the "plus". I'm a firm believer in always buying your gas from the same place, I feel I get the same quality every fill up. Overall, I don't care what anyone else thinks, I could nit-pick on them just as easily. |

I've heard it all to.. I also bought a Auto so the wife could enjoy the car . Won't lie about I wanted a V8 but with the extra expense of the V8 at the time just couldn't swing it . But I'm more than pleased with our Camaro ..just as much HP as my 55 Chevy plus 30mpg on trips & only running 87 in the tank. Plus with my mods the car surprises people when they find out it's Only a V6 !
Let Haters Hate and enjoy your Camaro !!

I just got mine 2LT/RS 3 weeks ago.. same thing.. automatic V6....
Now couple of things, it really depends what are you going to use the car for! When i got my Camaro I was thinking between 1SS standard or 2LT/RS (almost the same budget..), so i asked my self what will i be using my car for/... Daily drive... i want it loaded and i like the MPG on the V6 better then the V8 plus I can use 87 for gas and that basically answered my dilemma... I loved to get the SS but for daily commute on that MPG and i had to fork out another 10K to get 2SS the same interior and accessories as the 2LT so for my limited budget it was perfect fit to go with the V6! Now if you have another car and use this as second car use it on weekends go on tracks and so on... then SS is a way to go... you can not compare the V6 with the V8 engine thats how big difference is when comes down to power... i test drove the SS and you can tell there is a big difference... but the V6 for me made more sense at this time So I'm very happy with what i got! |

I used to get that all the time by my "car guy" coworkers. However, when they crabbed about mileage on their "family car" I spouted off that I get 30 mpg average on the highway and can actually afford to put gas in the V6 since I don't need premium. Also, when they ask about V6 or V8, I reply "since you are asking, you don't know the difference, and I don't race, so who cares? It's still a Camaro" And for the automatic vs. manual. Mine is a daily driver in the frozen tundra of MN, so they are pretty jealous when it's -12 and I can remote start my automatic from the basement with the OnStar app. Toasty warm and defrosted when we walk to the parking lot, and they are facing a cold and frosted over car.
If I'm being really bitchy, I simply reply, "I ordered it, so he's exactly how I wanted, when you buy one you can get what you want" |

Why in the hell are you driving that POS you have? Sorry but since I hate automatics with a passion I have no come back for that one. The bottom line is that until someone else starts paying for my cars, I ignore anything they say. Drive what you like. Personally I would not want a V6 automatic but I am not going to criticize the guy who does. Robby |

I dont get "the business" much at all....a few have asked why I got the V6, and I say "28-30 MPG on 87-89 octane"
Most nod and say good choice, and that it looks good. Hell these cars will be up on the older stock/mildly modded V8's...
