After 9 months the baby is in the garage

Our new baby was conceived last Nov.08 when pre orders were commenced in Canada. The 1st choice of professional to deliver her was replaced mid term when it became apparent he may have been over promising his ability to deliver. Thankfully an excellent replacement was located on CAMARO5.

After 4 cases of false labour, the 5Th TPW resulted in a birth on June 8Th. Transportation had her arrive in Vancouver June 26Th and we laid eyes on her July 2ND. 10 years 2 months since the wife had a GM car.

We had very high expectations and she meets or exceeds them all. While waiting all those extra months we read every morsel of information and thousands of postings on CAMARO5. This is our 21st GM delivery, so we are not so excited to overlook any details.

We ordered the beige leather with SIM and I have to say this made the dealer rather nervous. He was concerned that we would reject it and he would " be stuck " with an orphan difficult to sell. Thus he insisted on a $500.00 N/R deposit. We did not mind as we sure it would look fine. The dealer did not understand that this was not really a "beige interior" , but actually a 2 tone interior. The carpets and head liner are black so the only beige is the seat front surfaces. You actually get a 2 tone without paying extra for it. We did not want grey carpets. The door panels are more a champagne color. It may be one of a kind in the province of BC.

Everyone who has seen it likes it. They were very pleased at the dealership and many others wanted to see it after we pulled all the plastic off. They followed our instructions and put no stickers on and left the front plate mount off.

We were permitted to remove all the outer and inside protection ourselves and we then hand washed it with our private stock of Meguiars products.
Once we checked the car over using the check list from CAMARO5 we provided payment by certified check and the insurance. We added a "replacement " policy for the next 3 years.

The dealer was excellent and played no games. We got our $1500 GM
VISA points credit and the $1000.00 GM Loyalty credit. They waved the automatic $199.00 dealer documentation fee as we had agreed last January. Total $2700 off. In addition they gave us a 2010 CAMARO coffee travel mug and a really cool collector 2010 baseball cap. Then they filled the tank.

I ordered the same leather jacket as Rick Hendrick was presented with (with matching VIN ) but it has not arrived yet.

We found none of the issues listed on CAMARO5 present on our car. We found no other items. We got the build sheets from the trunk and removed the window sticker ourselves. The car had 1.8 miles on it after PDI.

We were not down the road 5 minutes before the accolades started. We have seen many do Linda Blair neck turns and lots of double takes. Four teens dropped their skate boards and gave us a standing ovation. Another guy yelled " that's the TRANSFORMERS car!!!!!!!!!!

The fit and finish is excellent. The paint is without flaws. The interior materials are also excellent and well suited to the car. The passenger side of the dash is sophisticated. The doors open wide....be careful.

The ride and handling is far superior to any of the 3 Vettes or the STS we owned. We have stayed off the brakes so far.

The growl in 1ST AND 2ND from under the hood is wonderful even with the windows up. Light to light in 3rd is very easy. The road noise at any speed is unnoticeable.

It was $20.00 to add 100 minutes to the free 30 on the hands free phone. Easy system to use and put your called numbers in for voice/name selection. 1st call inbound was a wrong number. Sound system is excellent.

We added the trunk rubber mat...fits like a glove and it is of high quality materials. We added the door sill protectors. They will be hard to remove.

Day one we put 25 cautious miles on it. Day 2 we did some varied driving with city, rural and some short trips on the freeway. Day 3 we took to the track.

We were asked to place it on display in the pit area. I used the time to further detail it and had a lot of contact with drivers and support crews. Most did not know it was in production yet. Some had to look under the rear. Many took pictures. EVERYONE loved it. The women were very pleased. (one said something about a wide on)
There was no " OH ...it's only a six ". Many of these people race six cyl cars.

When I told them the base price they were stunned and very pleased. BTW there are huge differences between the materials and details in the Canadian brochure VS the USA.

We drove it home for 3 hours and parked with 450 miles in the garage next to the GTO . Looks to be about 2.5 feet shorter.

Pictures to follow. So glad we did not get the Accord Coupe last Oct.

Here are the pics. #1 was our 1st view of the car as we came around the rear of the building . Then pre wash, after wash, key delivery, 1st drive around the block.

Then some inside the race track pit area. See this guy checking the RWD

Then some on the #1 at 65 MPH.

Finally at home next to the 72.
