For Those Interested in Smoked Tailights!

Hello Everyone!

I recently joined the forum but I have been observing for years. I am very excited about the new Camaro and I can't wait till next year to get mine!

I wanted to put out a few pics of my STS because I get a lot of compliments about my smoked tailights and I wanted to let you guys know with the Camaro's that you should get it painted on and not the film tint. My body shop put clear coat to make it shiny and painted on the Black and at night you can clearly see my LED's as well as during the day. It makes the car look so much sharper!

Check some pics out:

For more info or questions let me know and I can ask my guy specifically what he did and if anyone who lives in the Westchester County area of Tri-State area I can have you go see him.

Thanks!

Joe

Smoked taillights are bad mmkay (Mr. Mackey voice)

Why would you make your vehicle harder to see at night and probably violate a "lights required law" and then get rear ended and be at fault?

I agree that making it harder for someone else to see you brake is kind of silly. But, if you are so inclined to hide the lights, why didn't you do the gawdy backups then?

That is just to Sexy! Really sweet job! I have seen others do this on a CTS in town and he is right, The LED lights are easy to see during the day as well!
But unfortunately the Camaro doesn't come with LED Tails,Just Bulbs.
If anyone has a Video on how they look during the day & night on the Camaro could you post one up?

I wish it had come with LEDS or even Red "Tail Light Halos" to match the RS's Front Xeon Halo's.
A place the aftermarket hasn't touched or experimented with yet!

Maybe they will now? Who knows. There just freakin' Cool!

I am considering SMOKED tail lights, but these are completely BLACKED OUT. I think that painting them (thus making them permanent) and making it that dark is just too much for me. Too blacked out IMO

I promise you guys that the lights during the day and night are still easy to see. When I drive around at night it looks sometimes like it isn't even smoked!

Plus I figured it would look sweet on a Camaro!

They will not be permanent, they just have to be sanded down and removed. I like it better than film because film peels and looks like a garbage bag at times as well as not having a glossy look like mine.

Thanks

Joe

is the clearcoat on the outside of the lens? Have you tried this on the side markers?

Ever try to sand clear plastic? maybe 2000 grit but good luck buffing it out. I'll be doing my side markers, tail lights soon, thinking about headlights. thanks for the clearcoat tip

way to dark for me... I still want it to look a little red. Im going with the film because I have never really heard about people having problems and its probably a lot cheaper. Plus if you get a ticket for smoked tail lights you can easily remove them and get more put back on. How much did you pay to do that?
