My '12 SS is in the shop! (TSB for differential fluid)

My car has a little over 6000 miles on it and it sounds like something is rubbing in the rear end. The service advisor called and said there is a tsb to change the differential fluid for this issue. I hope it solves the problem.
I just thought I would let everybody know in case anybody else is having a similar problem.

I hear it at low speed only. Especially when I back out of the driveway. It doesn't seem to be as loud when everything is warmed up.

Isn't there also a TSB for a change to a bearing in the rear end? Thought I read that someplace on the forum

Yes this is a well known issue. I upgraded the rear-end fluid with Royal Purple, but still mine gets loud now and then. When that happens I find an empty parking lot and drive the car in tight circles (left and right) about ten times and it clears it up.

I've heard it backing up also...just started recently. Is harm being done? Is it something that needs immediate attention?

GM TSB states it's caused by a slip/stick of the posi-traction clutch plates. I have not read/heard of this causing any actual damage. They will change the rear fluid and seals, then drive in tight circles to distribute the oil and exercise the clutch plates to address the problem.
