Any honda guys here?

I found a 1995 Civic LX sedan on the craigslist and am going to look @ it tomorrow.

The back windows dont roll up or down and the AC doesnt work well after being in the sun for hours,,, I dont understand that one but other than that, it's supposed to be in great shape. He said his mechanic will look it over for free, but Im not taking it to someone he knows lol.

It has 180,000 miles on it, He wants $2100, I offered $1800 because that's as much as I have to spend... The book value on that car is $2300!!! That shocked me with the amount of miles on this car...

He hasn't got back with me yet to let me know if he'll take $1800, but if he does and it's in good shape, Do you guys think it's a good buy?

I really need a car & I dont know anything about honda's so I dont know if 180K miles is "A lot" for them..

What's your opinions?

thanks

the EG-6 was a decently built car. Those things can go 250k easily with minimal maintenance. The question is, Did the guy drive it and take care of it like a ricer, or like a normal person (change the oil every X miles, drive it within the speed limits, no mods, etc.)

I'll ask all of that tomorrow. Im taking my dad, he's car smart... and knows what to look for when it comes to most problems.

It's not been modded at all, they bought it 10 years ago, for his wife. He has the majority of the paper work from it being serviced.

That's a good sign so far. Most of the time, woman drive their cars a lot less frivolous (I know spelling is off, 1 hour of sleep) then men do. The biggest problem I had with my Eclipse when I bought it from a mid thirty's lady was a coffee stain...

Good luck with it. =)

180,000 is pretty high but not unusal for a civic. If the car was taken car of then you can easily get another 100,000 miles on it. At that mileage its a risk. If you do buy it I would recommend changing out the timing and accesssories belts right away. If the motor did die you can find a replacement for pretty cheap($500) and it can be swapped in a day.

That's a pretty Mindz-LESS statement and sexist, too.

It was a good stereotype, and it's proven fact.

I prefer buying from females in their 30's vs. Xteen year old males.

I didn't say all. Chill out there mr 500...

Here's another good stereotype (don't know if it's proven): the interiors of car's driven by elderly people are in better shape than those driven by the young, too.

And (if it's not a Corvette ) there's a higher chance that the car hasn't been pounded or driven hard as much as a youngster would put it through.
