I have for sale an '81 Vette, 3 speed auto. I am the third owner of this particular car, it has never been in an accident and has a clean title. It has roughly 117k miles but the engine was professionally rebuilt at 100K miles. The car is stock except for Hooker Headers, side pipes and an upgrader pioneer CD/Bluetooth player model # DEH-P6100UB. It has brand new tires, brakes, a rebuilt carb and a new starter with heat shield. I have the paperwork to show the previous owner had the u-joints and trailer arms professionally replaced. The entire interior was also recently restored and I would grade it a 8/10. The paint could use some touch ups (front bumper and just behind passenger side door) but it is unnoticable at 10ft. I bought the car shortly after returning from a 16 month tour in Iraq and the car is a real head turner. I am selling both my Vette and my Grand Cherokee to make room for a new 2010 Camaro. I have brand new oil and transmission pans with gaskets and seals, just havent had the time to put them on. When not driven, the vehicle is always covered. I am asking $11,500. 3 Speed automatic? Is that stock?

Yea, the 3 speed is stock for the '81 model year. Its a TH-350 transmission with a lock-up. It wasnt until '82 that the 700-r4 4 speed overdrive trans was introduced.

They are better than it sounds. I mean they work fine if in good shape and are not the expensive to rebuild. You can even get performance rebuilds with beefed up components.
