What the S***? My key fob sets off alarm on another car!!

Stepped out of the office to grab some lunch. Park. Get out, hit the lock button my key fob, three cars down a Subaru Impreza's alarm goes off. I hit the unlock button, it shuts off. Did this several more times just test. Worked everytime. Should I be concerned?

Maybe a coworker with a window office is playing an awesome prank.

wooooow. Ok, not to alarm anyone, but I remember reading about the encryption for remote keyless entry a few years back. Basically then encryption for the signal hadn't changed since the 80's and isn't all that difficult to hack (if you know what you are doing). I'm HOPING that they have since upgraded their encryption keys, but Thats still kinda funny, but at least it didn't unlock the other car or somethin!

-edit-
I really wouldn't worry about this so much, what are the odds of this ever happening to you again (with a different car anyway)? Though there are new sunspots on the sun, maybe a solar flare is causing some electric oddities?

I seen this once before. My buddy has a 1999 ford SVT lightning. It was at the dealer for servicing and when he picked it up and hit the unlock button a brand new ford sitting there unlocked too. tried it again and sure enough it worked on both trucks haha.

Lol, I don't think YOU should be concerned at all. As long as your key locks your door. It's not your fault your lock button sets off their panic LOL. Perhaps walk far enough to where you can lock your car without the signal getting theirs.

I would be concerned...... The Subaru owner probably has the capability to unlock your car

No joke played at all. I was away from the office at a little eatery at a strip mall. My co-worker couldn't believe it!

What was really funny, is when we left. We sat in my car and set his alarm off, when he came out to turn it off, I turned it off before he could, then just as he was going back in the place I set it off again. We did this several times. It was comical!

If its at your workplace, the subaru owner could accidentally unlock your car and someone else passes by and robs whats inside or worse.. I would get it changed at your dealer..

...I have an idea.

Wait until the owner comes out to the car and try it..

EDIT: You stole my idea for you.. How does I do that? :S

Anywho, that's just awesome.

This took place at a restuarant about six miles away from my office. It did not happen at work.

Ahh ok..Then I wouldn't worry about it.. If it was at your work then it would occur on a daily basis..lol..and would be of concern..
