Don't buy JL Audio from non-authorized dealers

Just a word of caution to anyone contemplating the purchase of any JL Audio equipment. I bought a brand new set of JL C2-650 component speakers from Amazon. Thought I got a great deal at $112 plus shipping. Everything seemed great with the purchase but I discovered that the driver side tweeter was not receiving a signal from the crossover unit. I verified that the crossover had no output at the tweeter connections with a multifunction meter. Contacted JL Audio to see about a replacement crossover. No luck. They will not honor their equipment for ANY warranty coverage if it was purchased through a non-authorized dealer. I can't even buy just one replacement crossover unit. I have to buy the whole damn set. At my local "authorized" dealer that will run me $200! What a PITA! Buyer beware.

Open up the crossover, might just be a bad solder joint or as simple as a bad cap. You can probably see who makes the cap, inductor, or resistor and get a replacement dirt cheap and fix the issue if you have some soldering skills.

It's usually common knowledge about the warranty deal. Any electronic repair shop should be able to fix that or let you know what's wrong with it. I wouldn't stress out over it.

This applies to any hardware (not just JL and Amazon). You always need to verify warranty information.

As for Amazon, it varies by the reseller that you choose during checkout. Some of the resellers on Amazon are authorized.

you could get a aftermarket warranty. squaretrade is cheap. I think they are good for 30 days after purchase.

Why don't you contact the seller? If the sold you something that doesn't work then they need to replace it.

You just need to confirm that you are buying from a JL authorized dealer in order for warranty to be honored. That information is available on the JL Audio website. Double D Mods indicated they are an authorized dealer.

Bought 600$ of stuff from a Rockford dealer, tweeter crossover only worked for 5 minutes (didn't even hook it up to an amp) had to contact eBay buyer support and make a case to get my money back on the tweeters and I told the dealer I will return all products purchased from him.

any issues on any othe products we have to get an RA number from JL as they will check serial number from our invoices to make sure it was purchased from us. Each item has its own serial number that is then marked on each invoice we get billed for. Most companies do this.
We would then email you a return label with the RA number on it to send direct to JL for warranty claim.
With our RA we give you to put on BOX, copy of RA to place inside the box, and on the shipping label itself JL would know exactly what to do with the item when received.
This is how we handle any issues
