I have been building cars and SOME sci fi for 25 years now. I mostly do cars/trucks tho. right now I am doing a model of the 1969 Camaro SS convertible replica of the one used on the tv show Las Vegas. I am using a 1969 indy pace car kit as the base (it is supplying 99% of the parts). the only problem with the model is the Pace Cars were SS/RS with the flat flush grill headlight covers that slid into the grille. I found a fellow model buddy who had the correct "V" shaped SS grille with seperate lights for the grille. I also had a buddy of mine who is a fellow builder make me a set of scale accurate nevada plates that have the same number/letters as the 'real car'. and the final touch i ordered a set of 'rally stripes' in black for the hood and rear deck (indy pace car has orange rally stripes instead). I hope to have the sucker prepped and painted in a color called 'chrome yellow' which is a very good match for the shade of yellow on the LV Camaro

I pretty much stick to military models- but an occasional car is still some fun.

) would any of you guys duplicate your car in 'scale' ?

I build WW!! military armor, SciFi, and race cars (le Mans, rally, gt). I will probably build my car when a good kit comes out. At the rate GM is going, that will likely be long before my car arrives.

WWII Aircraft and Old Muscle for me. Still working on my airbrushing technique.
Cool story: My mom wanted a Camaro for her 50th, or at least a test drive in a 5th gen. So, I said I'd pull some strings and get her a ride in one. That didn't pan out too hot because of production still being 6 months away; so I did the next best thing; Almost cut my middle finger off making her a 5th gen model kit. I told her I bought her a new one and was 'detailing it' prior to bringing it up for her 50th. She obviously didn't believe me but I said there'd be one for her at dinner. Drove down to the 'rents house and went out to eat. Had the car all wrapped up in a box and made a faux key fob for her out of foam and fiberglass from school (it subsequently broke 2 weeks ago... I'll make a replacement eventually). Placed it in the box with some paper on top of the car. You should have seen her face. Saw the fob and noticed that something else was in the box.. "Happy B'day. Told you you'd get the keys and the car!" Priceless day. Finger still has a good scar from the slip of an exacto knife.

Hey guys!!!My hubby found a model kit for the 2010 Camaro last March in Michaels (a craft store)...don't know if they have Michaels countrywide... It is the exact 2010 Camaro...the kit comes in silver, however, my hubby "guessed" the best and closest color to our still "sight unseen" RJT... He also painted the interior gray like our car... the color match was "spot on a perfect match"...he made one for me and another for my dealer/friend for his office... You "model builders" should look for it.....maybe Michaels has a website...I think the model was Revell...you could also check their website... Here are the photos.............ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!... Let me know what you think............... Last edited by "prima"Donna; 07-23-2009 at 01:29 PM. |

![]() As for pics; not yet anyway. I'm going to refinish it this year for her 51st. She has yet to decide on a color for the actual car so that's whats holding that up. Still gotta redo that fob too. :/ |

Here is the thread from last March about my Aqua Blue Metallic Camaro model. Looks like the same model as this thread. Nice job on the car, btw.http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...etallic+camaro

sorry to be the party pooper but that model is the concept car - it is VERY VERY close, you see the fuel cap is on the haunches and looks as though the front is very slightly different - but hey, I'm being picky. I also build models and will certainly make one of mine :-)

Does anyone know if there is going to be a production 2010 Camaro plastic model kit? I would like to build a replica of the car I'm ordering. Meanwhile I will have to pick up the model of the concept to go with all of my 1:18th scale diecast concepts. Thanx for any info you can provide.
