Catch Can question?
Apologies if this is an obvious question but I want to make sure I have it right. So I went to install my ported throttle body and when I removed the stock throttle body I noticed a fair amount of oil in the area directly behind the throttle body. My question is, is this the oil a catch can is suppose to "catch"?
Also, if it is, should I go ahead and clean/wipe out that oil before installing the new throttle body? How does that oil adversely effect the engine? Thanks for any information. |

Yes and yes.
The oil will cake inside the manifold and get into your valves and cake on effecting airflow. |

Ok thanks. I actually just found the "catch can explained" thread and it confirmed your answer. Thanks for the quick response. Guess my next purchase is a catch can!

I have yet to see a drop of anything in my catch can with my build (16,000 miles ago).

The Elite Engineering was the first mod that i did to my car. At around 14k miles i had my stock throttle body taken off and polished, we thoroughly inspected it and there wasnt one smudge or spot of oil on it, it was still shiney new. They are worth every penny

I have installed 2 cc (Elite). One on the dirty side and 1 on the clean side (on a LLT V6) because there was quite a lot of oil in the throttle body when I installed my CAI. Picks quite a lot of oil on the dirty side but only 1 or 2 table spoon on the clean side per 2,000 miles. The TB has been oil free since.

I suggest going with the Elite engineering catch can. They are very high quality and do exactly as they're designed to do. Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |
