How accurate are the service intervals in the manual?
Ok so lately my wife has been getting less MPG in her car (2008 dodge caliber 1.8l). We bought the car new with 6 miles on it back in 08. I always do the maintenance on it. So I decided to take a look at the spark plugs today and man they were shot. The electrodes on all 4 were completely worn down. The gap according to the book is suppose to be .030. When I checked the gap they were at .080 on each plug
. Could explain the decrease in fuel economy. So this got me thinking. The owners manual on her car says the plugs should be replaced at 102,000 or every 102 months. Well her car is sitting at 81,000 miles. So if the plugs were that bad and still within what the book says, how accurate could the intervals be on our camaro's? I am at 50,000 miles on my camaro and am considering checking/replacing mine.

plugs on Camaro say 100,000 but will probably be more like 70,000.
