Dealer renigging on done deal w/supplier discount

So I picked up my IOM 2SS/RS last Tuesday night; done deal, signed check etc. drove my butt off and completely fell head over heels for the car. Check was cashed by the dealer on Friday.

Today I get a call from the owner, who mind you signed the vehicle purchase order with the supplier discount itemized in the total, telling me that the Camaro doesn't qualify and that he'd like me to come in to discuss.

I have a copy of the GM vehicle purchase plan document that notates the supplier discount and contains the authorization number I gave them plus the approval number that I assume they received from the system when they entered the authorization number.

Now, I don't plan to hand over any more money since I signed all the paperwork and they cashed my check, meaning to me that they were OK with the terms.

What I'd like to know is if anyone on this forum can help armor me with any GM documentation to support what I've read all along: that the Camaro does qualify, but the dealer doesn't have to honor it. I reserve the right to assume that they honored it when they signed the retail purchase agreement.

Any help with ammo would be greatly appreciated.

You got the car, they can't ask you for more money.. Hire a lawyer if they continue to harass you and find yourself a new dealer to go to for warranty repairs. They sound like a bunch of crooks..

I'm not an attorney, but it sure seems to me you have all the documentation to tell them to go pound sand.

Yep, all documents signed, check cashed? You think the dealer would give two sh*ts if the customer came back after he took delivery of the car, asking for a discount off MSRP? Dealer's gonna tell the customer to take a hike.

I don't see how the dealer has a leg to stand on here. I don't even think OP needs to even respond.

I tried to present this same deal to my dealer and he said Camaros are off limits. It's the dealer's discretion if they want to apply it to the car. So, I'm paying 2K over MSRP. They told me the demand is so great for the Camaro, they don't have to offer this special pricing.

Take it from a dealer. Regardless of whether or not the car qualifies (which it does), the deal is done and the dealer is just trying to recoup some money from you which isn't justified. Any adjustments should have been made PRIOR to delivery.

Tell him thank you for accepting the supplier pricing and move on.

He does not have a leg to stand on. Enjoy your car.

Remember, the supplier pricing is just the same as a negotiated lower price. If the dealer does what they are supposed to, they can get back about 2% of MSRP to offset the loss.

Ask or do a Search, It was CamaroScotty who put that up on the supplier discount.

Dude why are you even entertaining this guy? They can't ask for money after signed deal + delivery + them cashing check. Tell them the hourly rate for your presence is $100 an hr plus gas.

Some of these dealers have GM's that have no idea how to run a business.
I drove by one of the dealerships by my house one Saturday afternoon, they had an Orange SS parked under the front porch area for all to see. A couple of hours later on my way home I drove into the dealership at about 8:00. The car was gone. I asked a guy if they sold the Camaro (it was the only one they had) he said no, the GM took it home, and I would be back on Monday. So I'm thinking this guys will be driving the sh!t out of this thing all weekend. Then Monday I go back in to take a look at this car. It's sitting in the showroom with 1,300 miles on it, the front spoiler of the GFX was missing and there were a ton of scratches in the footwell from all the use this car was getting.

A salesman walks up and starts telling me all of the features and benefits of the car. The was a nice and knowledgeable guy. I told him I was going to go home and talk to the boss about ordering a car from him. A couple of days later I was able to get a supplier discount authorization number. I called the salesman and told him I wanted to order the car and use the number. He told me he would need to call me back, because he had to get the OK from his manager to use the discount. Five minutes later he calls back and says the GM will not accept the discount code for the Camaro. Then he has the balls to tell me if I find a dealer who will take the code to call him back and he would see if they would meet the deal. I told him sorry, I don't do business like that. I was giving him first shot, or I would call around until I found a dealer who would accept the discount code.

So, after one phone call I got the dealer about 5 minutes down the road to take my deal. The first guy called me a couple of days ago to follow up, I told him his competition down the road took the deal.

I don't understand why the GM of the first dealership would be demoing the hottest car in the country instead of keeping it as clean as possible, and why he didn't take my discount code when he has two other dealerships within 5 minutes of him. Oh well, I have my deal done. Just playing the waiting game.

Uh I don't think they can do that if you took delivery and signed off on it.

They can't change the price after that point I don't think.

had a honda dealership do that to me. I put the deposit down signed the deal. The day I went to pick up they told me that I need to give them 500 more for some reason or another. My wide lost it on them made a big scene and it was dropped. One of many reasons I would never buy another honda

Tell him let's take it to small claims court. Just for them to hire a lawyer to show up for the one event would cost them 3-5 grand. The transaction is completed as far as you should be concerned. If you go to small claims as the judge for a temp order halting them from reposession or a summary judgement to honor the deal.
