Is it fast or just "quick"?
I read an article while I was in a 7/11 about the hennessy people putting a 700+ hp motor in the Camaro. And also making a 1000hp twin turbo model for more cash. (Wish I could remember the magazine name). Anyway their feelings were that a stock camaro SS only felt "quick" not "fast". Just wanna get opinions from those who have driven the camaro as well as "fast" cars.

The problem is you are going fast and it feels like you are not. Been to 101 and felt like it did when doing 55.

This gets me in my LT any time I'm on the highway. I have to use cruise control not because it makes driving easier, but because the only other way to keep the car below 90 is to look down at my DIC every 5 seconds. High speed feels very smooth, natural, and controlled in a Camaro.

I went for a ride in one the guy had it at 100 mph and it felt like we were going 50. I know the feeling, but I have never been on a pedal to the metal cruise in one so i dont know how fast they really are.

Both. A lot of 'quick' cars do not feel like they are fast, when you go to look at the speedo you are at 90 mph or more ... fast slow down to 65 and 30 seconds later you are back up there. Sounds like the Camaro to me, and anything I can do to make it more of each will be good.

Fast is very relative.
When the LS1 z28's first came out (back in 1998) the LT1 guys were saying "it doesn't feel very fast." And coming from an LT1 z28, that's was a pretty truthful statement. My first impression of my 99z28 was that it really didn't feel all that fast. My stock LT1 z28 actually felt faster. The LS1's power delivery was so smooth, it made the car feel slower. But when you ran it down the track, it was quite a bit faster, especially on the top end. My L99 A6 has a similar feeling. The power delivery is so smooth, and there's so much torque managment on the shifts, the car doesn't feel as fast as it really is. But a nice tranny tune will change that. And as mentioned, the 2010 Camaro is so quiet you feel like you're going 40mph when you're really going 80mph. |

All relative, stock from the factory there can only be a handful of cars that can be it(minus lambos, ferraris, exoctics etc.) I mean the only thing stock I can think of is, Vette, Viper, GT 500.

Hello!
|
Took my father-in-law for a "spirited" ride and he said it was fast...felt like a 07 GT500 he had drove...pulled nicely and planted him in the seat.
Then took my brother-in-law for another "spirited" ride (I love giving these rides!!) and he said it was the fastest car he'd even been in...granted he drives a 98 Dodge Intrepid! To me, the car is "very" quick...fast is all in the eye of the beholder (or in this case, driver or passenger). I can easily get third gear to chirp the tires! She moves quick...at least that's my opinion. |

Like stated, it’s all a matter of opinion, but I think the Camaro is fast by not necessarily quick. I say this because when you get on it, you don’t feel the power, but like Scott said, you look down and are doing 100 MPH. I also have a sportbike and I would call that quick and fast. You can really feel the acceleration and you are going very fast. That Camaro just doesn’t have that snap your neck quick feeling probably because of the torque management.

the thing is its un tapped. You add exhaust and headers and a tune and you will easily be at 500 hp. Add a Charger to that, you will be high 500's.

It all comes down to your own personal definition. I haven't driven a new Camaro yet, but I have driven an LS3 Corvette, and I think I know what SGOS252382 is talking about. The Corvette didn't explode off the line. It didn't feel like I floored a 430 hp sports car. It just moved effortlessly. So yes, by feel it isn't savagely quick or fast, but in reality, it moves.
