how long do they sit on lots?

I bought my 2012 victory red 6 months ago. It had 92 miles on it at the dealer. Dealer said it Was sitting on multiple lots for over a year and i got a 4k discount on it.. it runs great and have had 0 problems with it and im now at 6000 miles. Isnt it unusual for one to sit that long?

There's multiple dealers around me that have new 2012s. One is still listing above msrp for some reason.

Sent from the road.

I used to buy all my cars that way. I'd seek em out.

Wifes car was a 2 year old new car- worked out great.

Bought a new '11 GMC that had sat for 18 months unsold, didn't notice frame was rusting. not so great.

All in all, these are usually great buys. I just got burned once.

My 2013 was sitting on another dealer lot since January...bought it at the beginning of September...it had 78 miles on it (about 25-30 of those miles were the drive from one dealer to another...jokingly asked my salesman after it was delivered how much it was beat on during the drive over....then asked if it could have been transported and he said yeah, for $500...of course he didn't mention that option until after it had been driven over...lol...he said that's what the Corvette guys do...as if my car wasn't worthy enough...)

Only problem with car is that I noticed shortly after delivery that there were some serious bird dropping etchings on the hood...probably from sitting at that other dealer for 8-9 months...

Going the exact opposite direction, mine was built on or about June 6, 2012, I found it and purchased it on July 11, 2012. So given that it sat at Oshawa for a minute and then transport time, it wasn't there long obviously. I actually didn't realize that when I bought it. It didn't even really occur to me at the time. Figured it out later when I tracked down my born on date.

Same here. My car was on the lot for a week or so. Had 4 miles on it.

It's not that unusual. There are still new 2012s on lots, who knows maybe even some 2011s. As long as they have some miles on them they are probably OK. I wouldn't want to buy a year or two year old car with 4 miles on it.

Nope. I bought mine with 17 miles on it that was sitting on a lot 4 hrs north of me for a year. They drove it down here and it was filthy. Took several washes to get all the dirt off from the seals. After about 30 washes the seals finally stopped draining black crap all down my car. Other then that, it runs just great. 2 years later and 16k miles on her

When I was car shopping there was a Dodge dealer that still had a 2012 Challenger SRT still sitting on the lot, but it was marked up to 49k. Were the Camaros where you're at marked up?

So I've looked around a bit.. I'm seeing blue book value for a NEW 2012 2SS/RS with a fair amount of options is approx. $35k and most dealers have still got the car marked at $40k and higher.

Are they still in demand enough for the difference in price? Or am I looking at it wrong? I'll be honest, under $35k for a new 2012 1SS/RS would probably get me to trade in the Green machine...

Just for kicks I thought I would see if I could find any new 2011s still on the lot, and I actually found one just 2 miles from my house!
They actually have several of them.

After seeing the price, I understand why it's still sitting on the lot...

You found the northern collection of Neiman Marcus Camaros. I do not get how they think they will get anyone to pay that price.

Fundamental problem with the Neiman Marcus cars was that the market is tight and already filled. See, there are people who pay way too much for a name on a car even if the car really isn't worth that much. Those people buy BMW's.
