Don't you have the owner's manual?
I know that's not the answer you were looking for, but I don't know. Some guys would change their oil after 1500 miles. I didn't, I did it at 5000 and every 5000 after that while monitoring the oil life meter on the DIC. I had to change the rear end fluid, a few people did I think. Not sure how many miles that was. It wasn't scheduled maintenance, just that I heard the thud or knock and they determined it was the rear end chatter. Changing the fluid pretty well cleared it up. Still happens in really tight turns when the car is first fired up especially in the cold. Just make sure and take it easy all the way through 1500 miles just like the manual says and then you can have fun with it. On a side note. I love mods, move this thread about ZL1's to an area no ZL1 people go to so no one sees it. Awesome.

I changed mine (ls3) at 500 and 1000, 3000, 6000, and 9000. GM LS engines make a lot of metal during break in from my research. That may be overkill but I had a good oil analysis at 9k miles. I think first change at 1500 miles and then follow the OLM would make sense as well. Some manufacturers put special break in additives in the factory fill (eg Honda), but not in the case of our engines as far as I know.
