new door speakers

Ok first of all i know very little about car stereos. My passenger side speaker is blown and im looking for replacements. Crutchfield offers a 6 3/4" kicker component kit that includes tweeters. Do you actually need the tweeters and that box that comes with it? Would it sound ok if i just bought the speakers for like 80 bucks?

From my experience, Crutchfield is WAY overpriced...go on ebay and search for the same speakers and they are most lilely much cheaper. Just make sure you buy them new and from a reputable seller (you can see how many items they've sold and theyre feedback)

The component kit has the little box that is a crossover for your tweeters. Replacing the speakers and using their kit is a really good idea.. After all... Why are you replacing them? Better sound quality right? (And one is blown)... And if you have the door panels off already, might as well go all the way.

if the door speakers are both popping, what other speakers would be the best, for no more then 100 bucks?

yeah, I would say you might as well replace the components and tweeters while you're at it.

the Polk db5601 would be a great upgrade and includes tweeters. You can get them for around 120-130. It may be more than you are willing to spend but it would be a pretty good sound difference.

Also would highly suggest you invest in replacing the factory amp but thats if you have the budget for it.

I had a blown speaker in my right passenger side as well in my BA system. I went into it just planning to replace the comps. Since then I ended up replacing all my speakers, as well as the amp, added a subwoofer, added another amp for the sub, and dynamatted the whole car. All speakers and amps JL. From then, I added a dash kit and head unit to improve sound signal quality over the factory radio. Once you start doing anything to your car audio wise it can become a financially crippling addiction, let me warn you lol. But I don't regret any of it at all.
