Emptying the Elite Engineering Catch Can

I'm getting ready to empty mine for the first time. Do you guys use a vice grip to unscrew the can?

Just undo it by hand. They can be kinda tough sometimes if you really had it tightened down good. Just be sure you are turning it in the right direction. When putting it back on, just get it snug. No need to really crank it down tight.

Make sure you have some petroleum jelly on the ring which mine came with at least. Helps in the winter and keeps a better seal. Take a pic of what you see. I haven't emptied mine since putting it on a few weeks ago. I don't want to see how much is in there

And don't do it when it's hot or make sure to wear gloves, that thing gets hot as a MF'er

Thanks for the tips, fellas! Now......If I remember correctly, if I am holding the bottom piece, it would be a clock-wise turn to loosen the can.

Yes, looking down on the can, the bottom will spin off clockwise.

Empty it often. It is my DD and I still don't put hardly any miles on it I went way too long before emptying mine and it was full of water, well make that a chunk of ice. So it kind of turned it useless. Lesson learned and now will empty it more often, at least every couple weeks to a month at the latest. I went a few months last time and it was way too long.
