Lights behind home link

Anybody put led lights behind there home link buttons or light then up someway? Because at night they are a pain to see or find. I thought maybe a little blue led behind it would light up the outside of buttons.
Thanks tom

I simply used a piece of velcro and just feel for the button.

Yes you can drill and install 3mm LED in your color on the buttons.

What's your method using a 3mm LED?

I did it with mine and it works great. The 3MM LEDs were too big in my opinion. You can tie in everything right up in the overhead panel. If you do it right the fiber optics leave a small bump you can feel as well.

How much of a pain is it to melt the ends on the fiber optic?

I ordered the materials for this mod a couple days ago.

You can also try some LEDs in the area behind the buttons. The light should come through the gaps around them.

Super easy... I heated up the end of a piece of metal (anything would work, screwdriver, knife, scrap steel) and touched the fiber optic on to it until it melted enough. I sanded it smooth to diffuse the light a bit too. Here is a pic of it completed. Sorry it is kind of blurry. Since this pic I changed the LED to the ABL LED so it matched everything else.

What'd you use 600 grit?

I ordered the ABL LED from Gen5DIY.com yesterday. The fiber optic I ordered a few days prior and the connectors I ordered today. I got the crimpers yesterday in the mail.

It was something like that 600 or 800. Just something fine.
