My camaro got hurt yesterday...accident... sad day :(

So I was driving from queens into manhattan on the triboro bridge/rfk bridge. Anyone who knows this bridge knows there are signs that clearly state keep left for bronx, keep right for manhattan. As I'm approaching the divider for manhattan and bronx, i'm going straight into the manhattan side on the outer most left lane that goes into manhattan (this lane also splits to go into the bronx). So the smartest guy I have ever seen in my life decides at the very last second, 'Hey, I don't want to go into manhattan, let me turn from the third lane to the right, totally skip one lane of complete traffic, and go into another lane where there might be a car going straight, all while doing a sudden sharp turn at maybe 50 miles an hour without signaling.... yea that'll work out for me, I have to get to the bronx'..... My heart broke! There was nothing I could do. It was either hit this guy with my front end, or take it on the side. I decided to brace myself, looked at my left lane, no car, so I went there and he totally F'd my passenger side, and wheels, axles, etc. I could have gone crazy like he did and moved to lanes two my left, but traffic was flowing so I didn't want to take the chance of hitting another car not involved in this genius' move. Here are the pics :( I left it at the chevy dealership so hopefully they can do the right thing for me, order some new parts, and put my baby back to new (with all my heart I pray). Oh yea get this... when I asked the guy... "so what happened, u didn't look at your left mirror when u decided to cut three lanes", his reply was... "what can I say, I F'd up". Wish me luck guys ... my heart hurts.

Man, I hate stupid drivers!!!

I feel your pain... mine was crunched by an idiot driver as well... glad you're OK though, and hopefully your Camaro makes a speedy recovery! I'm still waiting for mine to get out of surgery :(

One thing I have to be thankful for is that the car DID it's JOB! Had no whiplash, my body didn't hit anything in the car, and my hands had total control of the car throughout all of this. The car is a machine, it's built solid, and I thank Chevy for making this car so safe. If it only had a canon like bumblebee to defend itself.... :/

Yuck, do not like the axle and back quarter panel being jacked. That is going to be hard to fix right.

I know exactly where you're talking about. That's the only thing I don't like about my Camaro; I have to drive it in this crazy city. I usually take the beater if I have to go through Manhattan and only take the Camaro east into Long Island.

I hope it comes back good as new!

Dude, that sucks. I feel your pain. I bought my wife a brand new CX-7 last year and the second week of owning it I am driving it through a parking lot when some guy slams into the side of me going 30mph! I get out and he is screaming at me!?? I said dude this isn't my fault but we will just get the cops here and let them decide. He says "fine, I'll be right back," and takes off running leaving the car and his passenger behind. The lady says, "gee, I don't know who he is, he just offered me a ride."

Come to find out:

- he borrowed the car
- the girl was his girlfriend and they both had rap sheets the size of phone books
- the car had no insurance
- it did over $11K of damage to my new vehicle which will never be the same nor will its resale value

Man I hate stupid people!

Sorry to see this man.

If I was living in NYC I probably wouldn't have a Camaro. Then again, a $30,000 car is nothing compared to what I see people driving around there.

Me and my girlfriend drove in on Friday and she was nice enough to offer up her car.

You DID throw the idiot off the bridge AFTER you took his insurance information, right?

Sorry for you and the car. Next time order a brighter color so people can see it.
