2LT or 2SS for choice.
Looking at new 2014 Camaro, but on the fence between the 2lt and 2ss.
I know the ss is faster, but aside fro the engine and a couple cosmetic differences, I don't see much difference between the two. Anyone with experience with both models can lend some advise will help tons, thx. |

If you like the sound and feel of traditional American muscle, then SS.
If you need good gas mileage and are watching how much you spend, then LT.

If gas mileage matters and speed dont V6, if speed does matter and you can afford the premium on gas V8. Also 2SS will come with Brembo Brakes, Better Driveline.
Add NPP and 1LE options imho if you go with the 2SS worth the $4500, I didnt get the exhaust and am kicking myself in the ass for it. |

I test drove the lt, and it had plenty of giddy up for me.
Just wish the 2ss w/auto came with the dual exhaust..anyone explain why it doesn't? I am not a ig manual fan anymore, even thought it does have a cruise control, just hate sitting in traffic working the clutch. Gas mileage is always a plus, but most my driving is city and topping out at 55 locally. |

Don't take gas mileage into consideration. The difference between the two is a few mpg's because of the V8 being able to drop down to four cylinders.

You need to decide what you want, and what you are comfortable with.
I had the 2LT, loved it, but eventually traded it in on the 2SS. Some will tell you that the mpg's aren't that different. True, the numbers are "somewhat" close, but premium here is 50 cents more a gallon. I went from highway of 30 with the 2LT to highway of 26 with the SS. I am driving with the automatic. (both) Both cars are great. For most of us, that drive them, the only difference is the power. Most of use will never need the additional handling and braking power. You should test drive both, and see if you can tell any difference in regular driving. I will warn you that many are under-impressed with the SS, especially with an automatic, I was and bought it anyway, BUT, let me tell you, once broken in, they are monsters. Foe some reason the SS's need the break-in to really awaken. If you have any specific questions, feel free to pm me. You can't go wrong with either. Best, Jim

I believe the dual MODE exhaust is lacking on the Auto V8 because it sounds like crap when the AFM kicks in.

I would test drive both and see if that helps you to decide. If you have any doubts about the power and sound on the V6 then save yourself the future regret and just get the SS. Many people don't think the decision through properly then a few months later want to get the SS. That's a great way to lose a lot of money on the trade up so think it through carefully and get the one you really want the first time. I love my V6 and have never regretted my purchase but I knew what I wanted out of the car and the V6 filled that need perfectly for me. For others an SS is the only choice it's a decision only you can make for yourself.

Bought my car Sept 25th. I had a target price of out the door for $25,500. I wanted a convertable in the worst way. Got what i wanted in a 2012 rally yellow 1LT vert with 19000 miles. Love, love, love it and couldn't be happier. The v6 with 325 hp is no slouch and its the fastest car I've owned. I get 20 mpg around town which is awesome. No desire for endless mods or the V8, love it just the way it is! Good luck with your decision. You'll do good with either car!

My dealer is working with a dealer in Texas to get the 2LT I want with the exact features I want for 25k out the door.
He also has a 2SS sitting on the lot for 41k with almost everything I want (missing the blue interior and has a white rally stripe/prefer silver) Waiting till tomorrow to decide on which, but wondering how long these stripes last before they start to fade/peel? Thx |
