True dual vs x pipe

I searched the forum for this discussion, I found a few threads but didnt really find the answer that I am looking for. Right now I have Doug Thorley 1 3/4" Tri Y headers, no cats, and im running true duals with flowmaster super 10s. I have read that with running true duals I am losing some HP and torque due to the lack of scavenging. Picking up some lost HP and torque sounds great, I also love the head turning eardrum bursting sound that I have now. I already have the magnaflow x pipe sitting in the box on my table, but here are my questions.

Will I really be gaining some HP and torque by adding the x pipe?

Will I lose some of my sound by adding the x pipe?

Gains won't be seat of the pants noticeable, but a small gain would likely show up on the dyno.

Yes, you will lose some sound and the sound will change from a classic V8 rumble to a modern V8 sound.

Its just that I love the way it sounds now, im really just adding the x pipe to gain the little bit of power back. Ive kinda been 2nd guessing having the x pipe installed because I dont want to compromise my sound if im not gonna be able to drive the car and tell that I gained a little power.

Well before everyone running a x-pipe jumps in here and tells you to run one because they are, I'd say if you love the sound you have, keep it.

You have an h-pipe in there now? If not, an h-pipe helps similar to the x-pipe. Many will say x-pipe is better but then do you really need a couple more HP up at 5000 rpms plus? How much time does your engine spend at max rpm? Do you care more about every last hp or the sound you have?

I have the L99 so when I took out the resonator, its straight pipe all the way to the mufflers. Thats why I have been 2nd guessing the x pipe install. I mean, if I can truely tell a difference, even if its a small difference, it would be worth the little bit of sound loss.

If you are running a true dual exhaust, meaning you've cut out the factory H pipe, you did lose some HP and Tq. Adding either a H or X pipe will bring back what you've lost. From what i've heard, the H pipe has more of a old school muscle sound where the X pipe has a little more modern muscle sound. There's not a BIG change in the sound, just a subtle one.

Good call. An h-pipe will keep the sound similar to what the OP has now.

An H-pipe or X-pipe is a must IMO, 3yrs we tested it on our free time on a dyno same day hours apart. This was on a 6.0L truck made 347rwhp 331rwtq with duals no cross over, 2hrs later with an H-pipe 351rwhp 337rwtq, 2hrs with an X-pipe made 354rwhp 340rwtq, 20min later 471rwhp 467rwhp with a lil nitrous lol.....
all runs done 2hrs apart on a 80* weather.

I have an X pipe, and I will tell you that you are gonna waste time and money if you switch just to gain some power that you MAY not see on the dyno. Keep what you got.

I have an X pipe because mainly of sound and its slightly more efficient than the H.

OP,
So everyone who answered your question made comments about sound and power. No answer however gave a reason for the sound or power.

An X pipe reduces back pressure, thus giving you more power and torque. By having an X pipe some of the exhaust from one bank of cylinders can pass through the exhaust from the other bank, thus balancing out the backpressure..
With many factory mufflers they are pretty restrictive at higher rpm's, thus an X pipe.

You probably could measure the difference with a dyno, you wont notice it though. It helps with large displacement and forced induction motors because you are pushing a lot of air.
On a stock motor just go for the sound.
