ZL1 Storage & Flatstoppers

I am getting ready to finally commit to putting my ZL1 away for the year and I have been researching as to how to properly store the car. I came across this video and I really like the flatstoppers.

Where is the best place to order these?

Save your money. Just purchase a package of 1 inch foam panels from a local home improvement store. May cost you $10.00. Cut them to the desired length, park your car on them. I used them last winter, no flat spots.

I can see using something like these if you were storing the car for more than a year, but as long as you're storing the car for just a single winter, I see no need for them.

Even if they develop a slight flat spot, it'll go away within 10 miles of driving it.

I'm more concerned with the temperature and the stock GY's cracking than I am with flat spots.

A flat spot on a summer only tire could be a issue i would think, with the power levels, and speed people drive these cars...Its not like a flat spot from heavy braking. +1 on cracking
I would think that tires stored for short periods of time, once they are driven for 25 miles, and gone through a few heat cycles should be ok,for normal driving...
Better safe than sorry I say...

Interesting product. It certainly spreads the load of the car over a larger surface area of each tire. I'm not 100% certain it's required. I've been storing cars for the winter in Michigan for a long time. I simply make sure the tires are slightly over-inflated and just let it sit. I think tire pressure is just as critical. Many people store their cars in the fall and do not adjust tire pressure. When temps get very low in Jan/Feb tire pressure drops further and that's when they can flat-spot. Simply over-inflating by about 5-8 psi will prevent this from happening. I have never had a problem with flat spots after storage.

PS - It took you long enough to store it. These MI winters are no place for a ZL1, just my opinion.

I went with the torin dollies with the big wheels. Cheaper (total $180 for 2 sets) and I'm able to move the car to create more room. Down fall is you can't just drive up onto them, have to jack the car up and slide under, but actually didn't take long.

I bought 4 for Baby K last year, so this is her second winter with them, had no issues last spring and don't expect any this spring. It's a small price to pay considering the cost of new tires if they crack. Have you been driving the Z in the snow?

I have the Race Ramps Flat stoppers and the work well. No problems. They did make the flat spots go away. Now I need a set for the corvette.
