Question Eaton Truetrac Issues

Has anyone broken an Eaton Truetrac posi in a Camaro? Under what conditions?

Did you find it makes more noise than the stock posi?

Experienced any issues with performance on a road course?

ANY disadvantages versus the stock posi (other than the fact that it cannot be rebuilt)?

Mine will be delivered tomorrow and I want to make sure I'm not making an expensive mistake - this is a daily driver that I plan to track, and the posi will be installed with a GM 3.91 gear, JRE billet caps, and upgraded diff/subframe bushings.

Thanks!

I plan to track it - I've seen a lot about how well it performs in a straight line, but want it to perform equally well through high speed turns on a road course (and low speed turns on the street).

I have literally the exact same setup as you listed with a GFORCE1320 driveshaft. Took this week off work to put it in. Hope its worth it!! Lol. This turned out to be an expensive setup.

I'm at 800+ and mine holds up well under any conditions that I've thrown at it.

I'm getting one myself. I am going for straight line though. I'm not much of a road course guy. I hope it works out for ya.

I got my Truetrac last week. I will be installing it shortly. Plan to only go straight lines also tho.

M6 is as hard as is gets on drive train. I killed two diff's one stock one and one modified. The stock posi is the weak link in both cases it broke the spiders. I now have a DSS 12 bolt. The next weak link is the two piece drive shaft and then axels. I have DSS aluminum drive shaft and DSS axels and have no regrets.

Around $900 for the parts, providing you can get the GM 391's which are currently on back order.

I'll summarize....these prices may be inflated just a tad to account for shipping and/or price variations....

Eaton True-Trac: $600
GM 3.91 Gears: $300
Full Install Kit: $200
JRE Billet Caps: $180
Total: $1280 (parts costs)
