Limp mode causing a hassle
Hey guys...need a bit of help here...especially considering the fact that I don't understand a lot of the technical stuff despite the fact that my tuner explained it. I got my car up to 717hp on wheel with the help of 2.9L Whipple, GT9 cam, ported cylinder heads and forged internals and other cogs and wheels.
My car is a 2010 SS, and after having my last mods done and after having gotten the car up to 717hp from 608hp, I didn't realize what I was dealing with and like an amateur I hit the rev limiter (which was programmed at 7100rpm) twice upon which the engine automatically went into limp mode. Switching the car off and back on got it back to normal however my rpm got restricted to 6200rpm. My tuner said a lot of technical stuff which I did not understand, however in short I did understand that GM ECU's for the Camaro tends to do that and what's annoying is that apparently it somewhat (don't quote me, I may have misunderstood) permanently locks itself at 6200 and does not easily allow you to retune it back to 7000+ rpm. My tuner has said there is a solution however he does need some time to crack this. Anybody have any idea what this is all about and if so, what is the solution to this problem? Because now at 6000rpm I'm making 660hp...I need to hit 6900 to make my 717 again ![]() I look forward to you people's feedback. Thanks in advance!!! |

Limp mode? I was going to suggest Viagra, but then I read further and saw it's about the ECU. Sorry, back to your original program. (When you're in your 60's "limp" doesn't have any good connotations.)

Sounds like he doesn't have the tune set right. There are adjustments that need to be made to supercharged vehicles so that they don't go into limp mode.
