Need some advice on purchase

Hello everyone. New here. I am looking at a 13 SS conv. With 500 miles, nav, polished rims. Its certified and will have the 12/12 in addition to the std warranty.
I am trading in my 2006 srt8 charger with everything on it. 20k miles.

So here are my questions.

1. Who has black leather in their vert and how is it in the summer? I plan on getting the windows tinted and I live in Michigan so we get some hot days but not crazy hot etc.
2. Any regrets on the black? Anyone know if the seats have the heat reflective treatment?
3. $37k otd a good deal?
4. Any significant issues with tbe 13s with leaks etc.

My first gm product in 10 years as I work for one of "the others" but we dont offer a decnt decent convertible.

Many thanks!

I have a 2013 SS vert with black seats and with the top down they will get warm but I live in the Deep South. Price sounds good, I bought mine new for $42k. Have had no problems

Make sure any service bulletins have been performed. Give the top a good looking over.
Price seems fair. Big question, I'd have is why is it for sale after only 500 miles ?
Is this through a Chevy dealer or someplace like Carmax? Ask for a carfax if you haven't already!

Good info. The reason it only has 500 miles on it was because it was used in the indy 500 parade and as a gm management vehicle during the race. Yes through a chevy dealer.

I had the same question about being used.
I have a black interior and tinted windows. I am also in the deep south. The leather can get hot when you leave it sit in the sun with the top down but is not like vinyl seats. It won't blister you. With the top up it doesnt get real hot. I use a leather conditioner (Meguires) on mine and have seen no fading. I wouldn't be concerned.

Is this vehicle being offered for sale as a "used" vehicle, GM "program vehicle" or a "demo"?

Just a brief FYI regarding my experience with a GM "program car":

I purchased my 2008 SATURN SKY Redline (built 2007) in 2009 with 300 miles on it from a Saturn dealer as "new" but it was a GM "program vehicle". Which means that GM reps used it to drive around and take it to shows for ~ a month.

The vehicle was sold to me as a "new" and untitled vehicle BUT I would only receive the remaining balance of the bumper to bumper warranty as the dealership had entered it into the GM "service" for maintenance purposes. I politely raised a point that if the vehicle is untitled and not a demo and being sold as "new", it MUST come with the full manufacturer's warranty. I received the full warranty. You're in the buisiness, however, and you'll know what is what.

In reference to black leather, I have it in my 'vert. It obviously gets very hot when you leave the top down and sitting in the hot sun. Perhaps throw a towel over the seat when it's sitting out in the full, blazing sun or put the top up. No problem while driving, however.

The 2013 MY appears to have an improved convertible top vs. the '11 & '12 MY's and seemingly fewer threads complaining of top issues on this forum for the '13's. Not to scare you off but you might want to do a search for "convertible top problems" as well as "broken 5th bow" and "water drainage / management bags, as well as "wind noise". As mentioned, the 2013's and late build 12's appear to have many of these problems, present in the '11's and early '12's, remedied. However, not everyone (including myself) has had these problems.

$37k with 500 miles and CPO "out the door" seems like a very good price. However, a brand new 2SS can be had for ~$42k - depending on options / accessories. Does the vehicle you're looking at have the RS Package? Does it have the "dual mode exhaust"? Manual or automatic? These 3 options alone will add over $2k+ to the price of a new SS. Something definitely to be aware of.

Do you have a link to the vehicle / dealer? Maybe get them to throw in a GM Protection Plan (GMPP) (extended warranty) at 1/2 price - for some additional peace-of-mind. http://www.gmprotectionplan.com/ourproducts.html

Pls. keep us posted on your progress and don't hesitate to ask any questions. We have an incredibly knowledgeable and supportive group here on C5.

First of all to Camaro5.
I think that's a pretty good deal for that car! Sounds like a sweet ride, post up some pics if you decide to get it!

Firstly, thanks to all that have replied, great info. I have always found forums like these a great help, not just with issues but real life ownership. I frequent a boat forum and a 14Grand Cherokee site.

Enough on those.........

So here are the details;

Its Summit white, auto, 2SS, RS pkg, Polished wheels (i do prefer the midnight silver), Nav and premium floor mats.

It still has the decals from the Indy drive, I did one once for HD Ram Trucks in Talladega, drove the circuit and lead the drivers out which was cool, so I kinda know what happens to them for show and stuff.

As for the sale, yes it is sold as CPO, so the dealer or GM was the first on the title - I think, I d have to re-review the email from the dealer. The good thing is I will get essentially, 40 months of bumper to bumper with 24 mths service as well.

I think I just sold myself on it.............damn.

As for the black interior, as this will be the summer only ride, i will see how one season goes, I must admit, I have been checking out leatherseats.com and their aftermarket seat covers look great, and I like the idea of the inferno orange............so we will see.

For sure if i pull the trigger, I will post pics, before it goes into the garage for 3 mths, as i speak it is snowing again..........

Love my triple black 2SS convertible. Top down 75% of the time here in SoCal. I like the look of the black leather and my wife and myself have never been bothered by the heat. Can never go wrong with black. Classy looking. Price seems good if it has the proper paperwork and has not been damaged and fixed. No problems with my top and there was a redesign for 2013.

After knowing more details about the vehicle you're interested in, I believe it's a pretty darned good deal.

Only one other suggestion, perhaps go to the Chevy.com webpage and build your own 2013 SS with the equipment on the one your looking at - I just did it, actually, with the options you mentioned, and it prices out at just a hair under $45k MSRP (that's without any stripes, dual exhaust, cargo nets or fuel door, trunk organizer or other accessories).

I'm not certain, but I don't believe any of the official GM / Chevy cash-back or other offers are valid for used / CPO vehicles. I guess you could always ask the dealer whether they'd honor a credit union, military or USAA discount, if you qualify for any of these. That notwithstanding, that's a pretty darned good deal.

Here's another option if your not happy with the black interior and would like to change it. I have Katzkin leather seat covers and I'm very happy with the quality how they fit and the soft feel of the material that is used. Check out my album to see my interior. I had all black interior, but I had it changed to Red.
