Calling all Do-It-Yourselfers
Calling all Do-It-Yourselfers,
I know some of us, including myself, do not normally have extra cash laying around and try to "get by". By this, I'm not meaning just half doing things but more in the sense of getting the top dollar thing, settling for a homemade or a...less expensive route. My question is how many of you guys are running a standard or simi-standard sub box or even a homemade box you've put together yourself? Not a custom job by ******** or someone (not knocking their boxes as they seem like the best of the best). I myself see these boxes just a hair over-priced, but what isn't with the market these days. Lets see some pictures of your setups. Here's the time to brag on yourself for your hard work and don't be shy if you think someone will knock it because they think it's "cheesy" or "trashy". I will post pictures as soon as I can get my system straightened out. |

Sound Ordinance box, free from Crutchfield with my sub. I re-glued it, laid in about 3 layers of sound deadener, beefed up the terminals and wiring. Now it hits hard without rattling. The biggest problem with a cheap box is that you will get raped on the shipping costs.
I designed and built my rack myself. See my journal for more pix/info.

If you go to the "show off your subs" mine is the first on the fourth page. Sorry for no pic I'm on my phone right now. Mine is all homemade with plexiglass and leds. it's not hard to to make one yourself just research how much air should be in the box for your subs and use 3/4 mdf with lots of screws and wood glue. I even used Pl premium in places to assure no leaks unless of course you wanted to make a ported box than that will require more research but not hard either. I'd never buy one off the shelf for how easy it is to make your own
