I was quoted £647 for the Camaro V6, me being 50, and with one speeding offence, and a £250 excess.

Unbelievably, for the W12, 552 bhp Bentley GT, I have just paid: £381!!! Whoop whoop!

That is excellent. How much excess have you opted for?

£250... only thing was that comparethe market said "we note that this car is not an import". I thought "yes it is"... and went to edit this part. It didn't let me and I'm guessing this was the basis of the quote. I don't know how much difference it makes. I still put that it was LH drive.

Cheers
Bluey

Just got off the line with Admiral. They will NOT insure this (my) American Import V6.
It does not show up on their systems.
As per last year they think it is a 4000 cc, i.e.: a Gen 4 Camaro V6.
#runaway from Admiral.

Most of us have some kind of MOD (Exhaust, CAI, TB, etc...) and I have found that only Adrian Flux is amenable to our vehicles and our fun. Seems, almost, not to matter how much you do to your car with Adrian Flux. It's the 'value' to replace your Car they are concerned about as they will replace it 'as is' MOD'd.
(well at worst you will end up with a replacement car and your pile of MODs to add on again at your £labour cost). √√

The V8's are kinda OK now there is a UK official version, but again, I'd specifically say...
"This is the USA Built Imported version and not the EU/UK one." if that is anyone's situation.
Otherwise the Insurance company will find any tiny reason to negate it when you come to need a claim :-( :-(

Maybe I should mention that I have a habit of speeding..... I mean..... Enjoying myself, I currently have 3 points (from enjoying myself) and 9 years no claims. I wouldn't recommend Churchill however, it was a pain in the arse and they're still asking for immobiliser details, which I don't have!!!! I told them it is stock, standard etc etc, but I'm screwed if it's nicked (but I'll hear you start it so don't even think about it)

Now that is interesting, I had a long chat with Admiral last night, I explained everything, its a V8, its just been imported personally from the US as I needed them to send the insurance certificate to the garage so they can get it registered with the DVLA. They said not a problem, did it all last night.

Good :-)
Have you seen and read the Certificate?
Not meaning to be a pain, but I deal with contract stuff like this a lot and want the best for you :-)

Yeah, I think any insurance company will insure practically anything for a price. Your (ego) price obviously reflects the privately imported status, which seems about right, wether it's a V6, or V8.
It would be nice to see bluey prove me wrong though.
