Hide away front plate holder installed 2SS/RS

I finally installed the hide away plate holder under my front facia. The install was very easy and probably took only 15 minutes. I got the hide away plate from the Swift Motorsports Co. for about $50. I've actually had them for over a month, but just installed it yesterday. Here are pics before installation, after with plate hidden, and in view.

Looks great. Thanks for the pics because I have the same situation.

A couple of follow-up questoins.

Question #1:

Is there room closer to the center to install it or is there stuff in the way?

Question #2:

Does it rattle while you drive or rub against the front end? Just curious.

Thanks,
Rockies4

ok i was wondering where did you purchase it? and to answer your questions rockies4, from what i know there is room and nothing in the way to move over, also it won't rattle if you mount it right. now i am not sure how it mounted it but your best bet would to be take the whole front bumper off and put bolts through so its not just a screw in the plastic.

Or move to Alabama. No plate required. lol

Does the plate operate electronicaly or do you have to go to the front and pull it out. For 50.00 i'd say the latter but just asking.

I'm not sure if that's still legal by California standards. They're pretty strict about these things.

California

I'm in Cali, it is legal, as it is a plate affixed to the front bumper. The center of the Camaro bumper is pointed, so I wouldn't even consider that. Only had it on a few days, and it seems to be firmly attached and staying in place. My driveway is not so steep as for me to scrape upon entry and exit, so I have no reason to believe that it is going to come off. I will drive with the plate hidden, and park with the plate showing.

Quick question:

Will it work with the GFX kit?

I found a better solution with a bracket designed by BD Speed Shop of Nashua, NH that was specifically made for the 2010 Camaro. The bottom piece bolts onto the underside of the front facia using the existing bolts. The upper portion of the frame is attached to a u-shaped bracket that is placed inside heavy foam rubber that fits into the bottom grille. It mounts dead center and sits low. No parts come in contact with the front of the car so there is no worry of damage to your car. They have different frames for the LS, 1LT, and 2LT vrs the SS due to the difference in the bottom grille. The cost is $99.00 and includes all Stainless Steel hardware needed to install and has a high quality fit and finish. I would take pictures but I'm from the old school and don't have a camara nor would know how to post it. If your interested you can contact this company at 603-889-3576. They have an information sheet that they may be able to fax or sent to you. Very easy to install and, remove for the show look.

Keeping in mind that it dosen't have contact with the point of the front facia, it does stick out a little but, in my opinion, it looks better than anything I have seen to date.

I have the manuel bracket on order from Swiftmotorsports also, it is due to arrive monday. This seems to be the best idea because you can swing the plate out of sight when you do not want it to be seen and have it seen when it needs to be seen. It is alot better then having the plate in a fixed position and alot better then placing it on your dash.
