Radar detector choices...

It must be done asap. Driving in my town is getting to stressful. There is a freakin' cop doing speed enforcement every time I go out for a drive. Most of our streets are 25mph, 30mph, 40mph, 45mph. What are the mounting options for a detector? I want the detector to be out of sight with no hanging wiring to impede my line of sight.

Just bought a Beltronics RX65 Pro at overstock.com for $258 shipped 3 day. Very easy choice after doing a bit of research. Should be good to go.

Valentine One is the only way to go! Expensive but well worth the money!

Valentine One is the best radar/lidar/laser detector anywhere, but you have to mount in the center of the windshield with LOS out the back window, or else you just aren't getting your $400 worth.

I also have the concealed display to hide the indicator lights from other cars around me at night.

Valentine one is out dated, and when you know how radars are used in the practical world,You realize that the arrows are a gimmick.Your not flying an F-16 where the skies are clear.Radar boucnes off road signs and other cars.a cop has to be going under a certain speed to use radar from behind, and he has to be within 2000 feet.If you get a "hit" from the side,well......he's right next to you.

The argument over the V1 is been discussed so many times here that its not even worth bringing up again. You are correct tho that its outdated and other detectors in its price range far exceed its capiblitites. Wheelman you made a good choice with the RX 65. Have had mine for serveral years and worth every penny.

Beltronics and Escort are the same company just some minor differences and whether you want a blue or red display. They are the best, I think im going to go with the Beltronics STI-R Remote or the STI Driver. FYI if you bought it on Overstock.com you dont have a warranty. https://www.beltronics.com/unauthorized-resellers.php

STI-R vs Valentine One

My own practical experience gives me a different opinion. You have to know that those arrows are not there to tell where just got nailed from right? They are there to tell you where the radar activity is, from how many sources, and what kind it is.

You're probably only going to be in danger of getting a speeding ticket if you ignore the warning signs a V1 can give you, or if you are the only car on the road when you speed into range of the cop.

Yes its there to tell you the direction the radar may be coming from. Why does it matter where hes doing it from. If any radar detector gives you that first small audible or voice warning you slow down. The arrows are a gimmick. The thing that really matters is distance of detection and sensitivity. For the price there are other units that exceed the V1 for the same amount of money in this area.

If the bogey is south and I'm heading north I don't need to slow down. I'm liking that "gimmick". The direction is a valuable piece of the puzzle.

And, I can tell you that the pieces that traditionally fail on remote mounted radar detectors/shifters are the sensors, have never failed on one of these units in a year and a half. As a matter of fact, we have had zero defectives with over 20 units sold/installed.

What I was mentioning in some other threads is that a company called NAV-TV (they are number one in the game of OEM integration right now) has released an interface for the K40's and the Escort 9500's that allows the complete elimination of the LED's and the displays. It sends all the information through a data signal to the DIC display. It tells you if the unit is off or on, if you are getting hit with laser or radar, and from what direction you are getting hit from. Right now, it has just been released for the Escalades, 09 Vettes, Tahoes, and some others. But, I am told by the chief engineer that they are working their way through the Camaro right now. I'll post when it is released and any pertinent info in regards to it.

Cool stuff though. Did a couple installs on Escalades that were awesome. It doesn't get anymore stealth of an install than this!

I have been waiting to get my car until i buy the Bel RX-75 .If that company could make an interface for that,i would jump all over it

But what if it bounces off a road sign and then back at you from the front (which is known for happeneing alot).Or if you are in front of a big rig,and the signal bounces of its large front metal shell sending a rear detection and you keep going thinking he's behind you(which has also been known to happen)
