Bad Morning Already. Spilled gasoline on car.

Was filling up at local station and when the tank was full, the pump handle never shutoff. So ran all down the side and the wheels (and shoes) before I stopped it. Only thing I could do at the time was buy a gallon of water, pull over to the side and rinse it off the best I could. I have to sit in school for several hours before I can get home and wash the area.
Does anyone think the gas will damage the paint/rim before I can get it cleaned better? Will be about 5-6 hours before I can do this.

Thx

Nah, you'll be fine. Gas will evaporate pretty quickly, just wash it all down and give her a good wax and she'll be good as new

Don't worry about it. All automotive finishes are designed to withstand some contact with gasoline. It would have to soak in gas to do any real damage. Rinsing it should be fine.

Agreed. It happens but u like solvents it evaporates fast. It will look like you spilled it but that should be the extent of it. No worries.

I had the same thing happen once before on a different car. I only had time to briefly rinse the fender and wheel, and there was no damage to the paint afterwards.

I was putting some 110 octane aviation gas in my 73 corvette many years ago. I spilled some around the fuel door (which was on top of and in the center of the rear deck). It ate the paint within a few seconds. I wiped it off almost immediately, but couldn't prevent damage. I polished it the best I could, but you could always see the difference in the spill area. This was before clear coats so it polished more evenly than you would expect. I never saw this kind of damage from pump gas, but never spilled more than a few drops of that on the paint.

Replace them. Will never that gas out if it soaked in. Or, there is an easy test to see how much soaked in, all you need is a match.
