Fuel Rail Flip - Need Help

Just flipped my fuel rail and the new line purchased from JDP is too short by 1 to 1 1/4" at least. Pic below:

Any solution to this and if there isn't can I just hose clamp a rubber fuel line in until I can get another one?

This is my daily driver so I need a quick solution.

Thank,
Rob

Nevermind...I got it. I had to pop the plastic bracket that holds the fuel and evap lines at the body.

Then connected the new fuel line to the main fuel line and then pulled up to connect to the fuel rail.

It's tight, but both clips are in place =)

Flipping the rail and using the C6 fuel rail is a great looking upgrade. It is a snug fit with the fuel line but fully functional and will fit when properly installed.

The C6 fuel line with the stock fuel rail is what I installed.

It's kind of difficult to flip the fuel rail and not install it properly. The fuel line is either long enough or it isn't. On the 2012 SS, the fuel line isn't long enough without popping the plastic "bracket" on the body that holds the main evap and fuel line in place. It was a little uncomfortable pulling on the main fuel line to snap the new fuel line to the rail but I did it.

I think later this week I'm going to get in there is little further and inspect what kind of pressure is being put on the main fuel line. I'm not 100% comfortable with it but I'm not too worried considering the number of people that have done it and haven't reported any issues.

Here's a cell phone pic of the final install. The plastic intake shell is removed and I didn't bother putting it back on.

I flipped mine and used a C5 fuel line. It cost me $10 shipped from vettenuts. Just for anyone looking to do this on the cheap.

Rob,
did you get a perminant solution (longer hose)?

is the C5 hose longer than the C6 hose? do you have part numbers?
I've talked to Tyler @ JDP, they are looking at some pictures of my car and are working on a fix.........either an installation issue or something uniique to our cars.........

I don’t know if the C5 hose is longer. Mine looks just like yours. It isn’t an installation issue as you can’t move the fuel rail, it obviously has to be flipped and installed in one place. The fuel line comes straight off the fuel rail and takes the shortest route possible to the main fuel line. The only way to make it happen is to attach the new fuel line to the main fuel line, pop the plastic bracket on the main fuel line, pull and snap it to the fuel rail. I would guess that it was about 1 1/4” too short so that is how much distance had to be made up by popping the plastic bracket and pulling.

I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to take a closer look at what kind of pressure is being placed on the main fuel line. The good news is, I haven’t had any issues yet
