Smart cord placement? (Escort 9500ix)

For any of you that hardwired an Escort radar detector and bought the smart cord for it, any tips on where to place it? Pictures would be great!

Unless something has changed in the past year there are no options to tap into the frameless mirror that I am ware of. This should tell you how to run it to the fusebox.

I have mine above the steering wheel just under the gauges to the right. I just have it wedged in there. Works for me and alert in within my line of sight.

That looks like a good spot, did you tuck the wires? Thanks for the pictures

Sorry, I placed mine on the bottom edge of the knee bolster at my knee to the left of the steering column with 3M tape. Wires are inside of fuse box. I don't have a pic. I don't use the alert on it, just use the mute button.

Would you say the smart cord was a good decision or would it have been smarter to just get the direct wire cord and avoid the placement of the smart cord adapter all together. Is it useful enough to get? The cost isn't the issue, it's more of finding the right place to put it.

I only find it useful for muting the alert since whenever I try to mute the detector directly, which is mounted above the mirror, I can never hit the right button and end up putting it in some other mode. It just gets annoying coming into construction zones where they have radar speed monitors.

Here is where I mounted mine. Note the radar detector location. This placement allows you to still use the visor.

Sounds good! I can't wait to set this up. I'm thinking about doing exactly what you did as far as positioning it under by my knee closest to the fuse box. Do you think 3M tape would work best? Or maybe double sided tape?

Nice setup as well ! How did you get the cord to sit nicely and secure there near the radio? And did you tuck your wires?

Yes all the wires are tucked. I used double sided 3m tape for the lower button. Also the power outlet/cig lighter is a great source to tap your power wire.

I really need to get around to doing this, mine is still just plugged into the cig lighter with the cord tucked.
