V6 Camaro Noob Question
Hey Guys,
Sorry for the noob question but this has been bugging me. I feel like my automatic v6 camaro takes way longer to shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, and I have to hit about 7000rpm in order for that shift to happen. Thanks for the help! |

yeah, I don't have much experience in an auto, doing manual mode. so you can bounce off the limiter in an auto?

then yeah, i'd take the car to the dealer. if you are just driving normal, and the car is revving anywhere near 7k rpm, you have a problem.

To the OP, If your car NEVER will shift, even while in automatic mode, until redline then you have a problem. Take it to a dealership.

OP - throw it into M and don't touch the tap shifters. This puts it in sport mode (i.e. 1000% more fun than D)

Same issue with my 2011 2LT A6 when new. GM replaced TCM (transmission control modual). That fixed the issue.

What he said. I always drive in sport mode (shifter position in "M" and don't touch the paddles). There is a lag in some shift points even in S, worse in D. A ported throttle body will help with that. But it should not be nearly that high RPM's in D or S before shifting, driving normally. Now at WOT, maybe. As others have said, see your dealer if you are getting that high in RPM's in normal driving before it shifts.
