Post 2014 Camaro SS 1LE Dual Mode Exhaust

I recently bought a 2014 1LE. I am interested in people's opinions of the car's dual mode performance exhaust. Although I've only had the car a short time, and it's not a "daily" driver for me, I'm not overly impressed with the exhaust, or better, how it sounds. Yes, in a more aggressive manner, it's better, but just general idling and easy driving, it's very quiet and really not saying anything about my car. Does that make sense to anyone else? I know a guy who owns an exhaust shop and he has put exhausts (cat backs) on previous vehicles I've owned. I'm probably going to change my exhaust. Thanks.

The other thing to try would be pull the fuse for the duel mode. It will leave the flap open all the time.

I don't have any experience with the NPP, but if you swap the exhaust be sure to save it and sale it. There's a bunch of interest in the NPP out there. Just my 2 cents

Have you done a fuse pull to keep the flaps open all of the time?? 99% of people are incredibly impressed with the sound of this exhaust. I think there is no better tone available aftermarket, just maybe a little louder. You won't get anything much louder from just an exhaust unless you cut your muffler off.

definitely do the fuse pull, it's awesome to be able to say that what they hear is completely stock!

I liked it when I got it but wanted more, except on the highway on longer trips.
The answer for me was the Mild to wild switch.
It gives you two setting, Factory which is reasonably quiet on the Highway or open all the time, like the 'fuse pull' option.

The difference is you can switch it from drives seat with a remote control.
Awesome.

If that's still not enough many people on this forum go to Long tube headers and high flow cats. More noise, more power.

Draw back is you will need a tune with the headers and the cats or you will throw a CEL.

Just my 2.56789 cents

For me it was a no brainer not to get it , as I plan on modifying the whole system from headers to tail pipes . For me it not just about the sound .

Hey Boydr12, isn't that supposed to be 3.14 for pi (lol)? BTW, I've not pulled the fuse to hear the exhaust in constant "full-open" mode. But I have researched the "mild to wild" remote switch for the exhaust and that might be a viable option. Have heard too that some folks have not liked Flowmasters at all because of the droning sound it makes when car isn't accelerating much. But not everyone hears the same sounds. Magna/Borla are decent options too (only read/heard), but others have said the GM dual mode exhaust is very good and in tune with the electronics of the car and proivides 6 additional HP. Thanks to you all for your feedback.

I love my NPP. It is aggressive without being annoying on highway cruises. To me, it is perfect!

And I agree GONIF, it's not just about the sound. It's the performance of course. I'll put headers no doubt, cold air intake, but just trying to figure if this exhaust is what I'm after. I didn't order my 1LE, I happened upon it and it was on the car. I have other cars that have after-market exhaust systems (including headers/hi-flow cats) and just seeing what others are doing with theirs. How does this affect the warrant (and if one adds headers, cold-air intake, hi-flow cats, etc.). Thanks again.

Umm ... isn't that the entire POINT of the "dual"-mode exhaust? The car would never pass EPA noise standards (which are measured at a steady RPM under very little load) if Chevy had a loud throaty exhaust that stayed "on" all the time. So Chevy created a vacuum operated exhaust flap that opens up at high load - something the EPA tests will not fail.

As others have alluded, if you don't like it, Chevy gave you a nice little fuse to solve your problem.
