SS Calipers

I am looking to get the calipers on my SS powder coated. Can anyone tell me exactly how this works? I called on shop, and they told me it was a 2 week turn around, and I had to gut the calipers first before they would do it. In this case, I would then have to have them rebuilt after they were powder coated. Is there a better way?

I even thought about ordering the Synergy calipers, and unless I found the wrong part, they were listed between 1000 and 1600 each depending on which site I was looking at. I was under the impression that they Synergy calipers were the same as the SS ones, just red. I know I can order a ZL1 set from GM for about 3500 per axle, but I believe that includes rotors and and other parts. One of the part numbers I found was 22833924. Can anyone tell me if this is correct, and if not, can someone give me the proper numbers?

I had the ones on my Gsx-r750 powder coated and I painted the ones on my Duramax and Buick reatta...they all look the same to me.

Thanks for the info. I sent Mike a PM. If anyone else has any info on this, I would love to hear it as well.

I am wanting to avoid having ugly chalky looking calipers in the future.

What color are you wanting to go with? If you are looking for red I know there were a few sets of 1LE calipers for sale in the for sale section. they are the same calipers as the SS just painted red from the factory.

I think Dropspeed has his entire set including rotor and pads for sale for $800 shipped (can't remember exactly but I know it's around that). Might want to take a look in the Suspension/Brake for sale section here on the board.

ADM Performance gets painted calipers often enough. It is an exchange program.

I had mine painted rather than powder coated. Paint isn't weak like people make it out to be for some reason. Didn't have to remove the caliper from the car or even disconnect the brake lines. They just taped everything off and sprayed. Came out with professional quality and saved the hassle of removing and shipping and installing and bleeding. If you want the best possible quality job though, it's much easier for the painter to paint it disassembled and removed from the car.

I also painted my calipers. I didn't have to disconnect the brake lines,
just cleaned them, masked them, primed them, painted them, applied
the stickers, then cleared them. Maybe $75 total invested.
