So I think I am shying away from the protective film but would still like some protection for highway driving and stone chips.

The CRT will be a real pain to color match, and unlike all my black cars I am thinking this time out it wilkl not be that east to just have the hood and bumper reshot every 5 years.

Any recommendations for a bra? Seems like there are these new stretch versions that don't hug all the contours and maybe make less contact with the paint.

Why shying away from the clear bra? Always have my cars done.

I went ahead and did the clear bra on my CRT ZL and it has saved my paint

Just don't think I like the idea of it. Don't plan on getting rid of the car and I envision issues with the film 5 and 10 years out.

Car will mostly be used to take the long way around anyway so not much highway, if I can throw this thing on for those rare occasions, and it doesn't damage paint, saves money and avoids whatever downsides there may or may not be to the film over the long haul.

That excludes any issues with install (bubbles, dirt, razor cuts in clearcost, etc.)

I have had good luck with the clear road film (the name escapes me) that you can buy from places like calcarcover.com and griot's garage. Its cellophane material that is sold in rolls that you can cut into pieces for the front end of your car. If applied correctly it does a great job of protecting from rocks and road debris. I use this material whenever I go on road trips.

I wouldn't mind having a bra as well for the zl, but I think that an owner would run into trouble because of the lower air dam that would need to be clear for air.

I am not at that point where I am dd'ing my zl, but for me any type of permanent film on the paint is out of the question.

IMO, I would stick with a 3M type film. I covered the front, rockers and quarters over the gills. I have never seen a bra that didn't rub and damage the the clear coat over time, especially when highway driving.

Its better to pay someone 450-to do the whole front,it comes with a ten warranty,all you have to do is take it back,how long do you think the paint will last with a bra beating the heck out of it on the freeway ? I have never seen a bra last ten yrs of DD either...

It won't be a daily driver. Willing to risk the occasional use.

Realize there are a lot of protective film fans - any comments from folks who use bras? There seem to be multiple types so someone must be buying these . . . . . .

This, if your serious about protecting your car, don't do a bra. My parents like to use the bras on their cars and it just kills the paint. I think they do more damage than good.

I'm have Xpel clear bra put on the front, fenders, full hood, rockers, gills and entire rear bumper. My car will arrive sometime next week and this is my first destination.

Xpel clear bra will protect against Rock chips and it's self healing - 10 year warranty and you can barely see it.

I had Xpel on the front of my SS with no problems and I will be having it done on my Z. In the coming weeks. A bra in my opinion is a terrible idea but to each his own. Just remember when having any clear paint protection done, you get what you pay for. I Use Automobilia Auto Salon in West Haven CT and their work is second to none. HIGHLY Recommend XPel clear bra, Xpel clear bra is the only way to go!! Make sure to have to professional installed, you can barely tell you have anything installed. 10 year warranty and is self healing. Make this your first stop after purchasing your car!!!
