ZL Spec Sway Bars

Now that Pfadt is out of business I'm looking for a ZL spec adjustable sway bar package. Currently the BMR SB039 package is leading the search because of function and price. I was really interested in the Detroit Speed bars coming out soon, but only the rear bar is adjustable. I'm not a pro when it comes to suspension on these cars so I wanted some input from others on different setups and the downside of a non adjustable front bar. Any input on setup a would be appreciated. I plan on using the car mostly on the road course with the occasional autocross event. Currently I'm running Pfadt drop springs, toe rods and trailing arms. I will be doing the FE4 conversion lower control arms as well.

I had those BMR bars on my 2011. They will help the handling immensely. But because the rear sway mounting of the rear bar is not as effective as the 2012 SS and up, if the bars are set be neutral, oversteer can be a bit sudden.

If I were you I would look into the 1LE package from Chevy. Since you already have good toe rods, you can sell the ZL1 toe rods in the 1LE kit. That and a square tire setup will transform your car. In order to install the rear 1LE bar you will need to replace the lower control arms from the FE4. The 1LE bars if I recall are solid and are bigger than the 1LE bars, or at least maybe the front is.

I installed the BMR SB039, took it to the track 1st time this weekend. Both ends are adjustable, I set mine to full soft front and medium in the rear as a safe starting point since I had no track mileage on the car and would wanted to be sure the car was not completely tail happy. They fit nice, was able to make changes after the event in the garage, moving to medium in the front and full hard in the rear. No noises, nice fit/finish/ Be sure you have the right end links, it worked perfect with my 2014 1LE. Zirc fittings included to keep things greased and quite.

I wouldn't worry too much about the adjustability of both bars. Basically you will go softer in the rear with a square tire setup and stiffer if you have a staggered setup.

SP039 is an FE4 style setup. the 1LE setup is great, but can still be improved upon.

Good to hear you are liking that setup. Everything feel great out on track then?

Best regards,
