Well finally got that call from the dealer.. they say there is something really wrong with the trans.. and it takes the car and trans to warm up before it does it.. dealer said trans is coing out as we speak.... so much for my driving skills lol...

burning clutch smell, high rpm shifts grinds second ugly and the clunking the clutch makes when depressed trying to park...

The smell is normal till the clutch breaks in. Take about 2K-4K miles.

Speaking of which - what is the longevity on the stock clutches? I know 1LEs are new, but SS has been around a while - same clutch right? Curious for those not beating the crap out of theirs - how long are they holding up under stock/close to stock cars?

I'm at 7500 miles and the only time I've ever smelt clutch was when I was getting used to the car and the engagement point. Never since, if driven the right way it really shouldn't happen

Same. I got a little bit of clutch smell the first couple days of driving. Never again since.

I would venture to say some as early as 60k....most over 100k. I bet the clutch hydraulics give up before the friction disc and flex plate. All depends on drivers left foot and common sense.
