What final gear are you in? 1/4...M6 SS
Last night I got 4 runs in. 1st run went through and shifted at 6000 to 4th. 2nd run I got the notorious clutch sticking to the floor at launch and had to nurse it down the lane. 3rd run I said heck with it ima leave it in 3rd but hit the limiter maybe 50-75 ft from the 1/4 and dropped off. 4th run I shifted to 4th around 6200 and right as I left off the clutch there was maybe that 50 ft left.
Is this normal? It feels like I'm losing speed in that last few feet for no reason. I hang every gear to right at the limiter. Since I'm fairly new to drag racing I wanted to make sure I'm doing things right and not scrubbing off lower times. Personal best so far 12.763 1/4 and 2.015 60' on stock pirelli which are almost done for. Will be switching to 305 nitto 555r real soon. You need more gear. I could run some calculations but a 3.73-3.91 would probably have you at redline in fourth at the stripe. Not sure which one though. I know the 1LE guys are going through at the top of fourth if that tells you anything.

If your car is tuned you need them to raise the limiter! When I have my m6 I always hung out 3rd till the end. If your shifting 4 your loosing speed, have them raise it to 7k. I use to cross the traps around 6800 if I remember right. This is your only option, and your motor will be fine.

Think I may also have the limiter increased for now as a temp solution. The power band on the dyno started to drop off around 6100 bit it'd be worth it not to shift again and scrub speed. Talked to a few guys and I think I may do so drag shocks in the back and remove the front sway bar to hook better. |

Finding 3.91's is going to be harder than finding a shop to install them. I've seen anywhere from $500-850 to install gears, plus the cost of the gears and the install kit.
If you are thinking gears, you might as well install a TruTrac and axles while they are in there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

4.30's would put a bolt-on 6m closer to redline @ the stripe. Liberty Gear is very reasonable to set up gears @ $350 + shipping.

I'm running 3.89s in mine and the rev limiter is set at 7100 and I have to use 4th. Before the gear change with the rev limiter the same it hit right at the finish line in 3rd. I tried short shifting and using 4th with no ET gain.

I hit the traps on the limiter in 3rd. Literally as soon as I hit the line the limiter kicks in. I've tried hitting 4th but like you I felt I was losing speed. I am racing at Bristol TN which is up hill and crazy elevation but I managed a PB of 13.34 @ 110.9 on LT headers, cat delete and the NPP exhaust open. No tune on stock Pirelli tires.

At 430 whp, you won't come near the limiter with 3.91s. 4th gear tops out at 140 mph with the 3.91s. Also putting in $1200 axles seems overkill. I got my 3.91s from Maureen at Rogers Chevy for $254 shipped and had my dealer install the gears and posi mod for $600. I drove in and drove out 2 days later. They're even warrantying it since it's a GM part and they did the install. I broke a stock axle 3 weeks ago, and they didn't blink twice to warranty it. I'm at 498 rwhp currently.

I hit the limiter at 6500 just as I cross the traps in 3rd. Stock 3:45 gears, tune, shorty headers, hi flow cats. Was thinking about going to 3:91 or 3:73, but first have to be consistent on launches stick is hard to launch.

With the 345's I crossed the stripe at the top of 3rd gear and went 12:30's. With the 391' I launched Pumpkin at 4800 on a Lingenfelter 2Step go 1.60's 60 foots and 11.90's at the big end shifting to 4th a few hundred feet from the stripe. 410's now but have yet to run them.

I cross the traps in 4th gear just before redline. I have 391s and just over 700 rwhp. I'm trapping 131-132. Hope this helps?

440whp here on stock diff M6 and I pass the finish line right at the top of third. Best time so far has been a 12.7 @ 117 on some 555's. Hope this helps

Last time I went I was able to pull a 12.685 @111. I stayed in 3rd but held the throttle right at 6400 rpm instead of shifting or hitting the limiter. Was pretty happy with that time. Still had stock worn pirellis and stock gears.
