battery issue need help
hey guys and gals so I brought my 2011 ss to the shop to get a dent out. anyway long story short the dent was fixed and the gm dealer did an excellent job anyways, here is where the problem starts the first time it happened I was in a parking lot I turned the car off went in came back out tried to unlock it with the key and nothing so I thought hmm weird I manually unlocked tried to start it. It seemed to something then just nothing. so I fiddled around (yes the right key) turned the steering wheel and checked to make sure it was fully seated in park but nothing so I climbed into the back opened the truck and checked the battery as soon as I opened the shield for the battery power came back on. now I have had this happen a few times, the worst of all when I was driving home from the store today it shorted out mid drive and did like a weird reboot, the car never tuned off tho just all electrical stuff. so what is your guys thoughts I am stumped, hopefully its not a battery wire shorting or maybe its not attached properly I could take it out and put it back in I suppose ill go so that now.

If I'm deciphering what you wrote correctly, it sounds like you may just have a loose connection on a battery terminal.

Have you installed any modifications that may be interrupting the power? If the vehicle is doing this while driving it could possibly be an alternator issue. Either way I'd take the battery to car parts store that can run a check for you. Sounds like you've picked up quite the gremlin. Hope you get it figured out soon!

To me this sounds like a classic chassis ground issue.

well the damage was to the rear fender above the passenger side back wheel. is there any way to know for sure If it is a chassis ground issue? and the mods on my car shouldn't matter, it only started happening after I brought it in for the work.

That you aren't experiencing blown fuses, the problem goes away and had recent body work I'd be looking for a ground connection that was painted or not screwed down tightly.
You didn't mention the vicinity of the repair but if it was in the proximity I'd take it back to the dealership that did the work. They should be equipped for the task. |

Where's the 21st century equivalent of a ground strap on these cars?
