From Fredericksburg to stoneham Maine...
I am going on vacation this coming week with the wife and kids. We are planning on taking the Camaro at this point. Are there any great places to see along the way? Going up the 95 corridor. Love to see what places others think are interesting/fun/different.
Also, we will be up on white mountain in Maine (stoneham). Is there anyone from this area? Anything cool to do up there in august?

Don't bring the car through Manhattan, you won't make it out alive. I live 20 miles outside of the city and I would NEVER bring her in there. I do recommend you check out the hudson river though, some pretty nice views over there.

WKD FIRE goes to Maine
Went to Maine, and WKD FIRE did great. Will share some highlights.
Averaged 25.6 MPGs on the highway. Around 17 to 20 MPGs while up in Maine. We went to Mt. Washington. 6288 ft up, and a narrow road. On the way down it was a shear drop 5000ft when a van tried to pass me on the inside. He went into the ditch. It was difficult to see how close I was to the edge before falling off the mountain. He motioned to tell me I still had a foot left. I was not moving any closer to the edge than I already was. A tow truck pulled him out of the ditch. I don't feel bad. He works there. He could have avoided the ditch, but I was not moving any further towards the edge. The roads in Maine are terrible. It definitely tested the suspension. I say it handled pretty good. The car did not bounce around on the road, and when cornering it just felt like it was having a great time. Most of our events were in conroy NH, and brigdton Me. I am glad I tightened up the spoiler before going. It would have fallen off. Oh, and it never fails. The roads were so bad "MDOT" decided to patch seven spots. They just drop the tar on the ground and let it get packed down by cars. Needless to say, my wheels are full of tar. I have washed it, but it will take a great amount of elbow grease. The sorry part is the patched them the morning before we were coming home, and there were no other ways in or out without passing over them. Fortunately there were only a couple of spots on the car which came off after I washed it today. On the drive home we encountered many idiots on the road (mostly New York and New Jersey). One started chucking soda out his window and sprayed me and another car. I tried to run him off the road, but my wife helped me to regain my composure. I was so mad. He quickly exited. If I was alone I would have definitely followed him. We went from Stoneham Maine to Forestville Md in 14 hours (12 behind the wheel). My two girls, my wife, and myself were ok with driving one more hour to the house, but opted to stay at dad's and visit. A great ride, and I am pleased with my purchase. I got WKD FIRE back on may 20th. She now has 7600 miles on her. I love this ride. I will park it later this year (octoberish) for the winter with many fond memories of this summer, and I will eagerly wait for the Spring. Great Job GM!

The Stanley Steamer museum is in Kingfield Maine, Owls Head Transportation museum is in Owls Head (???), near Rockland, and the the Cole Transportation Museum is in Bangor, all good choices especially if it is raining.
Don't forget Winterport Dragway, one of the oldest continuously operating tracks on the East Coast! Buy lots of lobster too, we're going broke up here!

I'm curious as to how you are going to pack the camaro for the trip. Take a few pics of your trunk jammed with summer vacation goodness. We could all use a few packing pointers for upcoming trips of our own.

Ok, I am back now.
I would have loved to go to the places recommended, but unfortunately I wont make it. As far as packing...It was stuffed. The large bags were in the furthest back part of the trunk. We had around 9 bags three large and the rest smaller. Plenty of space for clothes and food for a family of four. Not much space for extras when traveling with wife and kids. You can pack higher than the opening. The lid can compress things down. You must pack like you are putting together a puzzle if you have a lot.
