Question Manual or Auto?

So I currently have ordered a 1lt automatic but recently rode in a v8 manual. Now this will be my first car and I just recently learned how to drive stick and now am kind of leaning towards getting the manual. Will the manual be more "fun" and im hoping it wont be a hassle after a while. I know the automatic has tapshift but the delay just doesnt sound that appealing. So in yall's opinion should I save the money by deleting the automatic tranny off my order and practice stick? or should I just stick with the manual?
Thanks for all of your help,
Connor

If you plan on building up the V6, get stick. If you plan on leaving it stock, get the auto.
I wouldn't even factor in "learning" stick if you decide to go with it, because I was the worst stick driver and I learned eventually when got my 2SS.

That's just my opinion. If you rode in or drove a V8, keep in mind the V6 can't compare stock.

Yeah go for the manual. I don't even think about it anymore and I hate autos. Everytime I get in one now I try and find a clutch.

Manual is more fun, cheaper, can be driven more efficiently (though if you drive normally the auto Camaro will be the same or better), and more fun (did I mention that?). Manual is not fun if you drive in a lot of backed-up traffic, though.

You will not realize its a manual until you get stuck in traffic for an hour or two. This has been covered several times here on Camaro5.

Yeah but some people never encounter traffic, i know I don't. I might get stuck in 30 mins of traffic a few random times a year. It just depends where you live.

I think it's all a matter of personal preference. I'm in mt upper 50's, and have driven both for many years. I'd say if your in a city go with the auto, if rural go with the stick. Myself I'm going auto, just due to the amount of traffic where I live and don't want to deal with shifting anymore.

Yeah,
I traded in my 05 M6 GTO for an 06 A4 GTO for this reason. I spent 95% of my time driving back and forth to work in traffic and the manual was a PIA.

How many times a week do you get stuck in 2 hour traffic versus all the other time when you are actually DRIVING the car. I drove a manual for 8 years in Atlanta traffic, nuff said.

Manual all the way if you enjoy driving the car as opposed to getting from point A and point B.

EDIT:

Although on the other hand if you have to ask yourself the question of manual vs auto, then you probably want an auto anyway. It's no different of V6 vs V8. If you want a V8 you will know it.

I have the same dilemma as cstproductions. I ordered a black 2SS/RS/SR with the manual transmission. Its production date is 8/17. I have the option of taking an aqua 2SS/RS/RS and chrome wheels with an auto (the original person who ordered it decided wimped out and decided not to get it) tomorrow. I drove it today and it is hot, much hotter than the black. (Funny, because a black 2SS/RS auto is on the lot right next to the aqua). The black is a bit dull compared to the aqua's metallic paint. In any event, my point is the tap shift of the auto is very responsive and quick - I noticed no delay in upshifting or downshifting. I live in an area in NJ that doesn't have a lot of traffic but we enjoy going down the shore and traffic is an inevitability. I'm leaning toward the aqua blue...Any thoughts?

I'm just learning stick and ordered a M6! Of course it won't compare to driving an auto. The auto you dont have to do anything except push the gas pendal (LAME!). Manual all the way! Its a pony car for a reason!

Also, keep in mind, you formed your opinion about the manual based on the ride on your friend's V8 with manual tranny. You are getting a V6 so I hope you are not expecting to have the same ride/thrill experience you got on the V8 manual. IMO only, if I was getting a V6, it would be with Auto tranny. Please think long and hard before you buy...or you could end up wishing you got the SS.
