new and looking for advice!
hey all! finally decided to become a member of camaro5, been reading many interesting threads here for quite some time and you guys seem to know your stuff! I'm in the process of trading in my honda and getting a 2014 1ls and couldnt be more excited! it's going to be my first manual car, that being said down the road after numerous precaution, safety and suspension mods my goal is to eventually go sc or maybe even turbo and take it out to the nola motorsports road course and also do some autocross. I know the aisin trans in this car is a little noturious! you guys that are running a manual with FI what have you done to adress the trans strength? Also any v6ers here run a road course pretty often? If so any advice to get mine ready (aside from suspension and tires). Thanks in advance for any advice guy! and exscuse the book just wanna learn all i can!

If you're looking to road course, it's very simple, BRAKES BRAKES BRAKES. You'll need at least the SS Brembo Brakes with performance track pads.

![]() The transmission is actually very good. Most guys stick close to OEM or get an aftermarket clutch (search the forums for the twin disc RAM clutch for us), but the biggest thing is that you need to swap the transmission fluid after the car's break in period! I did mine (twice actually, once at 5000 and once at 15000 to clean out all the break in crap) and I have NEVER had the grinding issue that is reported. Lighter wheels and sticky tires are also a must. And then your power mods, of course.

The SS Brakes will swap right in but will not clear the 18" 1ls wheels. I have aftermarket 18" wheels and the Brembo Brakes Clear. If your going to use the stock wheels, your going to need spacers of at least 1/2 in. If you check Ebay, you can find some nice deals on Brembo Brakes

The manual is rated for "345hp" (or ftlbs maybe) but we've got at least one guy (Cant_C_Me) running twin turbo with the manual so I'm not worried about mine at all.

cool thats really good news so with going forced induction the tein disc ram clutch is the way to go? ive seen some positive reviews on the spec clutch kit as well but you also have to use their speciality made flywheel. are their any FI V6 guys running on the road courses? and a gto reseivor swap to seperate the clutch and brake fluid is something that will help stop fluid boiling right? Sorry if some of these questions are kinda repetive just wanna make sure i'm doing the right mods for the right reasons! on a side note has anyone got their lfx heads ported by LMR? it seems like they are getting some pretty impressive gains!

any word from forced induction v6's out there any advice for a manual equipped car? also did anyone take a look at the gmpp zl1 driveline kit it seems like its marketed to the SS crowd however since manual v6 rears and v8 rears are similar would any of those parts work?

Im a M6 and have the IPF SC... no problems with the trans yet( Knock on wood). I do plan to change to GM synchromesh fluid.
I also did the Clutch reservoir mod and made a noticeable difference in braking. Not a huge amount, but changing and separating the fluid will definitely help.

thanks for the info Lil, whats the advantage to using the gm syncromesh fluid? also i seem to remember you saying in a different supercharger thread about being careful with cats(oem) and a supercharger. i also remember hearing that using a high quality high flow cat such as solo cats would probably be ok is that correct? appreciate the help!

If you are going FI, keep the stock cats, I had the SOLO and they melted. good excuse to rub catless...I used syncromesh for a while, but prefer Redline in the trans now. Will make it shift better. I also have the hurst, but if I were to do it again (and I might) I would go with the MGW shifter. Check my build, it is setup to run on a roadcourse and it keeps up with vettes and prepped V8 Camaros too. as long as the parts you have work together you will be good.

Yeah, sycraft's build is excellent if you're looking to go IPF. And no, either OEM cats or no cats. Solo's melt.
Oh, another thing. I don't think the ZL1 rear end is worth it since it's freaking huge and probably weighs a good bit. The SS rear is plenty powerful, and if you needed to upgrade anything just get SS gears and 1LE axles. Here's the rest of the GMPP for our cars, if you haven't seen it already. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2013/10/...-gen-v-camaro/ Uh... and brakes - if you want more stopping power, you can always upgrade to the SS master cylinder.

the manual cars have the SS rear end already, do not get gears, drive it first, 3:91 may be too much rendering 1st gear useless. I have yet to break axles, but wheel hop will kill them, get trailing arms and toe rods, or at the least replace the bushings. If you need to go with axles, get the 1LE axles or drop the bucks and get the DSS ones. I have the SS Brembos, but are contemplating going to CTSV front brakes. and traction will be an issue, I have 315 Nitto NT05 tires and will break them free on a roll on acceleration, so keep a tire budget in check.
