cai causing bucking?
Hello all,
At low speeds high gear when I punch the throttle the Camaro bucks a little. I installed cai intake not to long ago. Anyone ever experience any of this? for instance 4th gear at ~20 mph engine will bog down, obviously, but will buck a little. or 5th gear at ~30 mph when I get heavy on the throttle it bucks/hesitates a little. For all I know this is normal, I just never noticed it before. Any advice or knowledge on this subject? Thanks |

What's the need for 4th at 20 mph?
Easy enough to remove the CAI and test without it

my car with a cam will buck my car if I do not have it above 1500 rpm at least in any gear, if your going that LOW in the gears for MPG stop it and learn to drive a stick properly, keep your rpms above a level to avoid bucking!!! its not the CAI its YOU!

You're bogging the engine... of course it bucks and lags lol. If you need to accelerate, downshift. My car bogged at 30 in 5th until I had all of my mods into it, and even then I never stay in 5th if I have to accelerate fast.

Check to make sure your MAF is tight, mine was lose after I installed a CAI and I had a similar problem, also a very rough idle. If the MAF sensor is tight, you're probably just bogging the engine down, no big deal just keep the RPMs up a little bit

Does it do this when the RPM's are up? Or at faster speeds? It really sounds like your trying to accelerate in gears too high for the RPM's your going.
