Which Kool-Aid Do I Drink, Adams or Chemical Guys?
I'm looking for a car care "system" that is easy and simple to use. I know there are other individual products out there that might be better but I'm looking for a system that a novice can use for a quality job without needing a chemical engineering degree or seventeen different products. Both Adam's and Chemical Guy's seem to offer the simplest straight forward systems that I've heard give quality results, which would you choose?

Do I have to choose between these two? I really wouldn't recommend either as a systematic approach.
If I HAD to choose though, Adam's all day. CG is pretty terrible with a few exceptions. They also hate their customers. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

I've tried most of them. I'm not a pro detailer, but I've watched, listened, made my own mistakes, learned some more and comes to this:
For a "systematic" approach, at this point until technology changes, my pick for ease of application and excellent results is Zaino. There's always this camp or that camp when it comes to which products are best so there's a lot of personal bias, but there's at least a numbering system that goes with Zaino. Do this first, then do this, etc. Plus it's easy on, easy off and a little goes a long way and it lasts a long while. But regardless of the finishing step products you use, every great painting starts with a good foundation. Clean and smooth paint is the base, so the prep work is almost as critical as what you protect it with. Claying, polishing/swirl removal is paramount to getting an excellent deep shine.

As is stated above prepping your car is an important step in getting the shine you want then a good wax or sealant .
My 2 cents look @ Meguiars or XMT products. I am still waiting on an answer from Nick @ adams on an item I bought.

I'm also new to the detail game and went with Adam's. While it's been costly, I have been happy with the results. I actually just did some paint correction on my hood yesterday and would have no problem hanging it on the wall to replace my mirror now.
As everyone will be quick to point out, there are better and more affordable options for different types of products, but as a fellow rookie, I don't think you'll be disappointed with what Adam's brings to the table. |

Been using Adams for years. Little $$ but top quality products and very good customer service.

No but those are the two that come to mind that I hear a lot about. If there is another ""system" that offers a simplistic approach with great results for an affordable price then I'd like to hear about it. Paul |

I have a "system" it just doesn't require me to be tied into one company. There are many companies that make good products with a few great ones like adams(like CD07 said CG the only thing I've ever tried that I loved was BlackLight).
But my question is why for only the sake of simplicity would you stay with one company? Adams is a good one to use but the "Comprehensive Produce Review Guide" or whatever it's called offers a wealth of knowledge with above average products from multiple companies. Instead of dealing with just the good ones of a system. How will it make it less simple? It will require you to more than likely place orders from multiple sites. You will have more than one package reach your doorstep and will have to track each one. Unless the system is color coded there isn't much loss of simplicity in the names or uses of the products. Why will buying the best each company has to offer will benifit you. Obviously you will have all above average to great products. You won't lose any money, and on the contrary you will be using your hard earned money on the best products possible to the knowledge of people on this forum. You probably will come out with only products that you will use consistantly and no fluff products in packages. With all of this said i would never consider buying only products from one company. Unless some supper line comes out, then I will retract my statement. I would also look into the new Surf City Garage professional detailing line. Dylan is offering a 50% off coupon to this forum and I doubt you would be dissapointed with the products, and will get them at a smoking deal(I presume). The thread to that is in this section.

I dont use either one but I do think whatever someone uses be it Adam's Chemical Guys or some other brand that us Camaro owners are pretty much obsessed with our cars and whatever brand will do great because we are constantly, cleaning, waxing & detailing so basically any brand can be as good as the next in our case....Thats just my 2 cents for whatever its worth...

If Surf City Garage wants to take away some of the sales from these other detail/wax companies, they should offer some small samples and work from there...

Point taken. I was hoping to find a line of products that I can trust to give me the shine and protection I want without having to shop all over, spend a ton of time and money on but I understand your view point and it does make sense. Paul |

Definitely not faulting you for wanting the simplicity. If I could only shop from one company for the rest of my life it would be great. It is just simply not worth it to me.

If you wanted to shop with only one brand, I'd probably recommend Optimum.

There are way too many great brands out there to limit yourself to just one. I'm not much of a fan of any system. It may be easier for the individual compared to a detailer that sees may different paint defects on various cars.
PS: I use no Adams products and only two from Chemical Guys. |
