smog or hp?
Idk about you guys but I F****** hate CA's smog laws! Lol im at 450rwhp and am wanting to go FI and have seen the costs of forging and seen that TSP forged 416 Ls3's are going for close to forging kit. I really wanna just switch it all out, my question is what all are you CA folks recommend doing or what are you guys doing to get passed smog? I know about paying someone to pass your car and all but am worried about the new smog laws coming up

I've already got LT's, Cam, CAI so I'm already pretty smog illegal lol but if I were ever to get caught that'll be semi easy to swap out instead of a whole motor I'm thinking idk

Procharger and Edlebrock are legal so slap one of those on and when you get caught you only got to change the headers (I'm sure they won't pull out your cam for a little check...)

You already have LT's so what difference does it make what else you have? It already won't pass the visual so if you get caught, you're caught. I went with a Maggie and smog friendly cam, added LT's and kick myself all the time for not going with a more agressive cam, different blower and larger LT's. Do it once and say F**k it. If you're already going to have to find someone to slip some extra money too anyway to ignore the visual, I say go for what you really want. If you get sent to a ref, you are screwed unless you go back to factory exhaust and CAI right now. If you want to play it psuedo safe, get a Whipple or Maggie what comes with the tuner (so you can get the carb sticker) and have it custom tuned. If you get sent to a ref, pull the LT's off and you will pass. Just don't get a tuner version of the blower.

Now you're dreaming.....That will never happen in this state! I spent the last 4 days in SF. First time I was asked for a bag and said yes, they charged me. I go out to eat and see an extra tax on my bill for employee health care.
This shit is only going to get worse.

I have lived in several states and a foreign country. I would have to put CA at the bottom of the list. |

No need to swap out the cam, just the headers.
I haven't seen any of the ProChargers/Vortec's/Paxton's get the exemption from CARB, but I haven't looked lately. They were bitching about the Intakes, but maybe they fixed their stupidity. I'm just over 625rwhp right now but looking for more. lol The tuner kits do not qualify for the CARB exemption (sticker) because they do not use the tune/pulley etc that was used to get the exemption. This state extorts money like a champ so if the companies don't submit a car in exact ally the same form as what the kit sells for, they won't give it the exemption.
